TL;DR — The best remote job boards for candidates outside the US are the ones that tell you where an employer can hire: Himalayas, We Work Remotely, Remotive, Working Nomads, Jobgether and Wellfound all label or filter listings by location. Vetted networks such as Arc, Turing, Andela and Toptal test you once and then match you with companies, often on contract. Whichever you use, read the location line first — in our index on 13 September 2026, nearly 70% of remote postings were limited to the US or North America or didn't say where they hire.
The problem: most remote jobs are written for one country
A job can say "Remote" and still require you to live in the United States, or say nothing about location and turn you down at the offer stage. The useful question about a board is whether it tells you, before you apply, which jobs can hire someone in India, Nigeria, Brazil or the Philippines.
What our index shows
Our index held 48,522 live remote postings on 13 September 2026, and 58.1% of them were posted by employers on their own careers pages rather than on job boards. Here is where those postings say the employer can hire:
| Where the posting says it can hire | Share of live remote postings |
| Doesn't say | 42.0% |
| United States only | 24.1% |
| US and Canada, or North America | about 3.6% |
| Worldwide or anywhere | 7.8% |
| Other countries or regions | the remaining ~22.5% |
Of the roughly 28,200 postings that do state where they can hire, 41.5% list only the United States and 13.5% say worldwide.
The worldwide share also varies by field. In our index it is highest in design (11.2%), followed by marketing (10.4%), software engineering (9.6%), product management (8.8%) and customer support (8.1%), and lowest in sales (6.0%).
Job boards that show where you can work
These boards tag each listing with where the employer can hire, or let you filter for it. We checked each one in September 2026.
Himalayas
Filter by location and time zone, or browse country pages such as its list of remote companies hiring in India. Each listing names the countries the employer can hire in, for example "United Kingdom only". Browsing, applying and tracking applications are free; an optional paid plan, Himalayas Plus, adds AI career tools.
We Work Remotely
Every listing carries a regional tag. Roles the employer marks as fully remote, with no location or time-zone restriction, get the "Anywhere in the World" tag and have their own section on the board. A Basic account is free; paid plans (Pro and TopAccess) add extras such as more job alerts.
Remotive
Location options include "Worldwide", regional groups such as "Latin America (LATAM)", and countries including India, Pakistan and the Philippines. Remotive says its listings come from vetted companies. The free view shows only part of the list; a paid membership unlocks the rest.
Working Nomads
Filter for "Anywhere", for regions such as Africa, APAC and Latin America, or for single countries, plus full-time, part-time and contract work. Job alerts are free, and a Premium plan is optional.
Jobgether
Add your country to your profile and Jobgether shows remote jobs where the company accepts that country, whether they are open from anywhere, from a wider area or time zone that includes you, or local. It pitches itself at senior professionals, and an optional Premium plan adds unlimited matches and auto-apply.
Wellfound
The startup job marketplace formerly called AngelList Talent is free for candidates. Remote listings show where the startup hires: "Remote only • Everywhere" means worldwide, while "Remote only • United States+2" means a short list of countries.
Vetted talent networks
Talent networks work differently: you apply once, pass their tests, and they put you forward to companies. A network, recruiter or "employer" that asks you to pay to be hired is a warning sign; the US Federal Trade Commission's guidance is that honest employers never ask you to pay to get a job.
Arc
Freelance contracts and full-time roles for developers, designers, marketers, product and project managers and more. After a profile, a communication assessment and, for freelance roles, a domain-expertise interview, Arc recommends you to hiring managers. It says it is completely free for talent and that people with 5+ years of experience and excellent English do best.
Turing
Roles with US companies in two tracks it calls application engineering and AI advancement. You work as an independent contractor and handle your own taxes under local law. Turing says strong English is essential and that it does not provide visas.
Andela
The Andela Talent Cloud matches technologists with client companies, with a current focus on AI engineering. Andela says it supports remote work from 135 countries, though what's available varies by location. Applicants take an English proficiency test, a technical assessment and a live technical interview.
Toptal
A freelance network for developers, designers, marketing experts, management consultants, product and project managers, and sales experts. Its five-step screening includes a live screening and a test project of one to three weeks, and Toptal says about 3% of applicants make it through.

How to read a location line
A board's tag is only as accurate as the employer's posting, so open the original listing before you apply. Location lines take five common forms:
- "Anywhere in the World", "Worldwide" or "Everywhere": open to any country, but check the body for a time-zone requirement.
- One country ("United States only", "Remote — US"): unless it is yours, move on. Our explainer on what "remote, US only" means covers the wording.
- A region (EMEA, LATAM, APAC): check that your country is inside it. EMEA covers Europe, the Middle East and Africa, so it can include Nigeria; the Philippines falls under APAC. See what EMEA means in a job posting.
- A country list: find yours; if it's missing, ask first.
- Nothing at all: ask before you apply. "Can you employ or contract someone in my country?" is a normal first-call question.
For the phrases that quietly narrow a posting further down the page, see our guide to work-from-anywhere jobs.
Time-zone overlap is the second filter
A role that can hire in your country may still need you online during another country's working day. Four hours of overlap with US Eastern time (9am to 1pm in New York) falls between about 6:30pm and 10:30pm in India while US daylight saving time is in effect, and an hour later in winter.
Nigeria (UTC+1) shares most of its working day with European teams, and the Philippines (UTC+8) lines up well with employers in Asia and Australia. Read our explainer on time-zone overlap before you accept a schedule.
Getting paid: contractor, EOR or local employee
Once an employer can hire where you live, the next question is how:
- Independent contractor: you invoice the company, receive the gross amount and handle your own taxes and social contributions, usually without statutory benefits.
- Employee through an employer of record (EOR): a provider such as Deel, Remote or Oyster legally employs you in your country on the company's behalf, with a local contract, local payroll and the benefits local law requires.
- Employee of a local entity: the company has its own legal entity in your country and employs you directly.
Ask which one an offer is before you compare salaries: the same number can mean different take-home pay and protections.
Our country pages
RemoteHunt publishes a page for each of ten countries, listing postings from employers' own careers pages that say they can hire there. On 13 September 2026 they held:
| Country | Postings open to candidates there |
| India | 852 |
| Brazil | 833 |
| Colombia | 743 |
| Philippines | 673 |
| Nigeria | 653 |
| Indonesia | 543 |
| Malaysia | 539 |
| Vietnam | 528 |
| Pakistan | 523 |
| Bangladesh | 509 |
Postings that don't say where they hire are left off. Start with the pages for India, the Philippines and Nigeria.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which remote job boards are best if I live outside the US?
Start with boards that show where a role can hire: We Work Remotely, Remotive, Himalayas, Working Nomads, Jobgether and Wellfound. If you work in tech or design, add a vetted network such as Arc, Turing, Andela or Toptal.
How do I know if a remote job can hire in my country?
Read the location line and the eligibility section of the original posting. A worldwide tag, your country by name or a region that includes it are good signs. If the posting says nothing, as 42.0% of postings in our index did on 13 September 2026, ask before you apply.
What does "Anywhere in the World" mean on We Work Remotely?
We Work Remotely gives that tag to roles the employer marks as fully remote, with no location or time-zone restrictions. Still read the posting for anything that narrows it.
Are talent networks like Toptal, Turing and Arc worth joining?
They suit experienced people who can pass a demanding screening, and one pass can lead to several client matches. Expect contract work much of the time: Turing places people as independent contractors and Toptal is a freelance network.
