Best Remote Job Boards for DevOps Engineers (2026)

Where to find remote DevOps, SRE and platform engineer jobs in 2026: Hacker News, We Work Remotely, Remotive and more, plus data from 1,095 live postings.

TL;DR: For remote DevOps, SRE and platform engineer jobs, start with the monthly Hacker News "Who is hiring?" thread, add We Work Remotely and Remote OK for remote-only lists, and use Himalayas and Wellfound to see where each employer can hire. On 6 October 2026 our index held 1,095 live remote postings under the Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer and SRE labels from employers' own careers pages; 71.2% were senior level or above and only 4.7% said they hire worldwide.

What is different about this search

Three titles cover most of this work: platform engineer, DevOps engineer and site reliability engineer (SRE). Employers use them loosely, so search all three, plus "infrastructure engineer" and "cloud engineer". In our index the Platform Engineer label is about two thirds of the group, so do not skip "platform" in your searches.

Two things decide whether a remote DevOps job works for you. The first is on-call duty: many teams expect you to answer alerts out of hours, so ask how the rota works and whether it follows the sun. The second is time-zone overlap: a team that needs you online for part of its day may be closed to people more than a few hours away. Our guide to time-zone overlap explains how to read this. For skills and certificates, see our guide to remote DevOps and SRE jobs.

Board by board

Hacker News "Who is hiring?"

Hacker News runs a "Who is hiring?" thread on the first days of each month. The October 2026 thread was posted on 1 October. Its rules say to post only if you are part of the hiring company, with no recruiting firms or job boards. Many posts say "REMOTE" and name the countries they accept, so read each line. It is a plain text thread, so use your browser's search for "DevOps", "SRE" and "platform".

We Work Remotely

We Work Remotely has a Devops and Sysadmin category. When we checked in October 2026 it showed about 16 to 18 listings on the page, each with a region such as "Anywhere in the World" or a country, an employment type and a post date. It is free to browse and apply.

Remotive

Remotive has a DevOps category that counted 1,367 openings when we checked in October 2026. It has filters for location, career level, employment type, skills and minimum salary. The free view said we were seeing 0.4% of available roles, and a paid membership opens the rest.

Remote OK

Remote OK showed 207 results on its DevOps page when we checked in October 2026. Listings show location and often a salary range, and you can filter by region or country. Browsing needs no account. A paid Premium plan exists; we did not check its price.

Himalayas

Himalayas is free for job seekers. Each DevOps listing carries a label for where the employer can hire, such as "United States only", "Canada only" or "Brazil only", plus full-time or contractor, and some show a pay range.

Wellfound

Wellfound showed 336 remote DevOps engineer results across 12 pages when we checked in October 2026. Many listings give a salary range, equity and where the role is open. Some roles are remote only and some are onsite or remote, so read the location line.

Arc

Arc is a remote career site for developers with a DevOps filter. It is free to browse, and listings show locations such as "Remote - Germany", "Remote - Poland" and "Remote - Singapore", which tells you the countries the employer has in mind.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is the volume source. A signed-out search for "remote devops engineer" showed "11,000+" results in the United States when we checked in October 2026, with many city-based roles mixed in. The page said it was bringing back its filters, so type "remote" into the search words and check each posting.

Also checked. Working Nomads has a system administration page and a paid Premium plan, but we could not read its listings when we checked, so we do not describe them.

What our index shows for DevOps, SRE and platform roles

These figures come from our index of live remote postings that employers published themselves on their own careers pages or hiring systems: 49,157 on 6 October 2026, copies on job boards not counted (see how we check every job). The set here is the postings our index files under the Platform Engineer (719), DevOps Engineer (213) and SRE (163) labels. The labels are assigned by a model and are loose. "All professions" is the 32,480 postings our index has sorted by profession.

Measure, 6 October 2026DevOps, SRE and platformAll professions

The group number mixes three different markets. The labels behave differently, as this table shows.

Label, 6 October 2026PostingsState payList only the USDo not say where they hire
DevOps Engineer21324.4%16.0%28.2%
Platform Engineer71943.0%31.8%21.4%
SRE16355.2%28.2%29.4%

The DevOps Engineer label is the second-lowest of the 44 professions with 200 or more postings for stating pay (24.4%), and the third-lowest for listing only the United States (16.0%). SRE postings state pay far more often, 55.2%, but SRE has fewer than 200 postings, so it is not ranked. So for pay, search "site reliability engineer" as well as "DevOps", and see our DevOps engineer salary page.

Platform Engineer is among the most open labels. On 6 October 2026, 5.6% of Platform Engineer postings said they hire worldwide, the third-highest of the 44 professions. The DevOps Engineer label listed only European countries in 22.1% of postings, the eighth-highest of the 44.

Most postings are senior. 71.2% were senior level or above, and 41 of 1,095 were junior or internship level. If you are starting out, read our entry-level job boards guide first and search "junior", "associate" or "system administrator".

Counting job boards as well, our index held 2,315 live postings under these labels on 6 October 2026, and 1,220 of them (52.7%) were seen only through job boards, against 50.4% across all professions.

On-call and time zones: what to check in a posting

A posting for this work often states its real demand in small phrases. Before you apply, look for:

  • On-call or a rota. Is it weekly, paid, shared across regions?
  • Overlap hours. "Overlap with UTC-5 to UTC+1" means you must work part of that window.
  • Hiring country. Many postings name countries in a location line. If a posting says nothing, do not assume it is open to everyone: ask.
  • Contract or employee. Our contractor and employee guide explains how pay, tax and leave differ.

On 6 October 2026, 750 of the 1,095 postings stated an employment type: 708 said full-time and 37 contractor. That is a floor, because 345 stated no type. A real employer never asks you to pay to apply, for training or for equipment.

Where these roles can hire

The table counts postings that say they hire worldwide or whose list includes the country. Postings that say nothing are not counted.

Say they can hire in, 6 October 2026PostingsShare of 1,095All professions

Brazil, Mexico and India sit above the share for all professions; Nigeria and the Philippines are close to it. Employers that had postings under these labels on 6 October 2026 included OpenAI (17), Elastic (13), Supabase (12) and Coinbase (9). Where RemoteHunt fits

RemoteHunt is not a board you post on. It reads live remote postings from employers' own careers pages and job boards, checks where each one says it can hire, and scores the ones that can hire you from 0 to 100 against your resume, with a written reason. If you have no resume, it builds one with you. It is free to start and you never pay to apply. The 90-day pass ($29 once, no renewal, 14-day refund) opens the company and apply link on every match.
