TL;DR: For remote data analyst jobs, use Himalayas, Remotive and Working Nomads to see which countries an employer can hire in, add DataJobs for data-only listings and Wellfound for startups, and read the Remote Data Science Jobs newsletter for data and ML roles. On 6 October 2026 our index held 583 live remote postings under the Data Analyst label on employers' own careers pages, and 15.3% of them were junior or internship level, against 8.2% across all professions.
What is different when you search for remote data analyst jobs
Data analyst is one of the more common remote roles, and the work travels well: SQL, a dashboard tool and a clear written summary. Three things shape the search:
- Titles vary. Data analyst, business intelligence analyst, reporting analyst and analytics lead overlap. Search for each. Our index files these under one label, "Data Analyst", and the label is loose.
- Your portfolio matters more than a list of tools. A few SQL queries on a public dataset, one or two dashboards and a short case study (the question, the data, what you found, what should change) show more than a skills list.
- "Remote" still has a country. Many postings need you in a certain country or inside a range of working hours. Read where a posting can hire before you spend time on a test.

Board by board
DataJobs
DataJobs lists data science, analytics, machine learning and AI jobs only. When we checked in October 2026 its data science page featured several remote postings, for example at Shopify. We did not see a remote filter or any cost for job seekers on the pages we read, so open each listing to see where it hires.
Himalayas
Himalayas is a remote-only board. Its data analyst page showed listings with labels such as "United States only", "India only", "Argentina only" and "United Kingdom only" when we checked in October 2026. Sign-up is free, and a paid Plus tier adds resume, cover letter and interview tools and daily job alerts.
Remotive
Remotive lists remote jobs only. Its Data and Analytics category showed 6,006 openings when we checked in October 2026, and each listing carries a country or region tag, a career level, a contract type and sometimes pay. The free view shows only a small part of the list, and a paid membership opens the rest.
Working Nomads
Working Nomads has a Remote Data Analyst page and lets you filter by contract type, experience level and location, from a single country to "anywhere". Browsing is free. Premium is a paid option.
Wellfound
Wellfound is a startup job marketplace. Its data analyst page showed 298 results when we checked in October 2026, many with a salary range and an equity figure or "No equity". It is not remote-only, so check each listing's location. We saw no fee for candidates.
Remote Data Science Jobs
Remote Data Science Jobs is a newsletter by William Cox with remote-first data science and machine learning jobs. It says it has over 1,000 subscribers, and its pages mention both free and paid access. Expect more data scientist than data analyst roles.
Also checked. Kaggle's jobs board is closing, its page says. Data Is Plural's job board is paused. We Work Remotely did not load for our check, so it is not rated here.
What our index shows for data analysts
These figures come from our index of live remote postings that employers published themselves on their own careers pages or hiring systems: 49,157 postings on 6 October 2026, with copies on job boards not counted (see how we check every job). The Data Analyst label is loose: it holds data analyst and senior data analyst titles, but also business intelligence, reporting and some data leadership titles. Employers such as Affirm, Veeva and Delivery Hero had postings under this label on 6 October 2026. "All professions" is the 32,480 postings our index has sorted by profession.
| Measured on 6 October 2026 | Data Analyst | All professions |
| Live postings | 583 | 32,480 |
| State pay | 41.0% | 42.3% |
| Say they hire worldwide | 5.5% | 3.9% |
| List only the United States | 26.8% | 31.5% |
| List only European countries | 16.3% | 17.9% |
| Do not say where they hire | 25.6% | 23.7% |
| Junior or internship | 15.3% (89) | 8.2% (2,671) |
| Mid-level | 25.4% | 24.0% |
| Senior or above | 44.1% | 58.1% |
More room for beginners than usual. 15.3% of data analyst postings are junior or internship level, against 8.2% across all professions. Data Analyst ranks 8th on this measure among the 44 professions with 200 or more postings.
Fewer US-only postings, and more that say worldwide. 26.8% list only the United States, against 31.5% across all professions, and 5.5% say they hire worldwide, against 3.9%. Data Analyst ranks 5th of 44 professions on the worldwide share. Still, 25.6% do not say where they hire, so ask before you apply.
Many postings only show on job boards. Counting job boards as well, our index held 1,447 live remote data analyst postings on 6 October 2026: 583 (40.3%) on employers' own careers pages and 864 (59.7%) seen only through job boards. Across all professions the split was 49.6% and 50.4%. For this role, the boards above matter more than for most.
Where remote data analyst roles can hire
The table counts postings on 6 October 2026 that say they can hire in a country: they say worldwide, or their list includes it. Postings that say nothing are not counted.
| Country | Data Analyst postings | Share of 583 | All professions |
| United States | 208 | 35.7% | 40.2% |
| United Kingdom | 64 | 11.0% | 11.7% |
| India | 60 | 10.3% | 6.7% |
| Brazil | 56 | 9.6% | 7.5% |
| Philippines | 47 | 8.1% | 5.8% |
| Nigeria | 43 | 7.4% | 5.9% |
For India, the Philippines, Nigeria and Brazil the data analyst share is higher than the all-professions share. These are the postings that say so, not the whole market. On Himalayas and Working Nomads you can filter by country, and you can browse live remote data analyst openings in our index.
Show your work, but do not give it away
Most data analyst hiring includes a task. A short take-home that takes a few hours, or a live SQL exercise, is normal. Some rules help:
- Ask how long it should take and what the data is. A fair test uses a sample or public dataset.
- Be careful if the "test" is real work. If you are asked to clean the company's live data, build its actual dashboard or deliver a report it can use, and there is no pay or contract, treat it as a red flag.
- Keep your portfolio on your own data. Use public datasets so you can show it to anyone.
- Never pay to apply. A real employer never asks you to pay to apply, for training or for equipment. Our guide to remote work red flags lists the patterns.
Contract, pay and working hours
On 6 October 2026, 399 of the 583 postings stated an employment type, and a posting can state more than one: 282 said full-time, 82 contractor, 17 part-time, 15 temporary and 12 internship. The contract figures are a floor, because 184 postings stated no type. Before you compare offers, read contractor and employee offers compared. For pay ranges, see our data analyst salary page.
Reporting work often has fixed times, such as a weekly review with a manager in another time zone. Ask how many hours must overlap with the team. Our guide to time zone overlap explains what to ask.
A related role with its own boards is the business analyst, covered in job boards for business analysts.
Where RemoteHunt fits
RemoteHunt is not a board you post on. It reads live remote postings from employers' own careers pages and job boards, checks where each one says it can hire, and scores the ones that can hire you from 0 to 100 against your resume, with a written reason. If you have no resume, it builds one with you. It is free to start and you never pay to apply. The 90-day pass ($29 once, no renewal, 14-day refund) opens the company and apply link on every match.
