TL;DR: For remote work from India, use boards that tell you where an employer can hire (Himalayas, Remotive, Working Nomads) next to Indian sites with a work-from-home filter (Internshala, Cutshort, LinkedIn, Indeed). On 30 September 2026 our index held 49,928 live remote postings, and 2,289 of them (4.6%) can hire in India. Only 655 of those name India, and 1,378 say they hire anywhere.
The problem: "remote" does not mean "remote from India"
A posting can say "Remote" and still need you to live in the United States, or say nothing about location and close the door at the offer stage. So the useful question about a board is whether it shows, before you apply, which jobs can hire someone in India. A work-from-home filter on an Indian board often mixes remote jobs with jobs that want you in an office city some days a week.
What our index shows for India
All figures come from our index of live remote postings that employers published themselves on their own careers pages or hiring systems, counted on 30 September 2026. Copies on other job boards are not counted. The method is on our page about how we check every job, and the same kind of figures, with definitions, sit on our remote job market stats page.
| Measured on 30 September 2026 | Postings | Share |
| Live remote postings in the index | 49,928 | 100% of all |
| Open to a candidate in India | 2,289 | 4.6% of all |
| ...that say they hire anywhere | 1,378 | 60.2% of those |
| ...that name India | 655 | 28.6% of those |
| ...that reach India through a region label such as APAC | 256 | 11.2% of those |
| Can hire only in the United States | 10,512 | 21.1% of all |
| Do not say where they can hire | 24,279 | 48.6% of all |
Three in five postings open to India get there because the employer says it hires anywhere, and only 28.6% name India. A search for "India" on a board therefore misses most of the market. Our page of remote jobs open to candidates in India runs all three searches in one list, and our guide to remote jobs in India covers the local side.
Pay and professions
16.9% of the postings open to India show a pay figure (386 postings), lower than the 60.0% for postings open to the US. Among those 386, the middle of the stated ranges was $145,000 a year. That is what employers advertise, in US dollars, and it includes worldwide postings that are often priced for the employer's home market. It is not a salary an Indian employer pays. Our page on geographic pay bands explains why pay for the same job can differ by country.
| Profession label in our index | Open postings | Share |
| Marketing Manager | 134 | 5.9% |
| Operations | 100 | 4.4% |
| Backend Developer | 81 | 3.5% |
| Platform Engineer | 78 | 3.4% |
| Product Manager | 72 | 3.1% |
| Fullstack Developer | 68 | 3.0% |
| Business Analyst | 67 | 2.9% |
| Security Engineer | 66 | 2.9% |
Boards for remote jobs in India
We opened each site on 30 September 2026 and report what its own pages say. Where a page did not state something, we say so. We Work Remotely, FlexJobs, Naukri and Instahyre did not load for our check, so they are not listed.
Himalayas
Filters for time zone, location and salary, and listings show the countries an employer can hire in. It says it is free for job seekers, with an optional paid plan for AI tools, and claims more than 100,000 live remote jobs.
Remotive
The location filter lists India, "Worldwide" and regions. The free view shows only a small part of the listings (the site says 0.4%), and a paid membership unlocks all of them, along with the location and salary filters.
Working Nomads
Region filters include APAC, and there are country filters. India itself was not in the country list we saw, so use APAC and "Anywhere". It is free to browse, with an optional Premium plan.
Wellfound
A startup job marketplace with remote job pages. It says it is always free for candidates. We did not find a country filter.
Cutshort
An Indian board for tech professionals, free for candidates. Its listings focus on Bangalore, Delhi and the NCR, Pune and Hyderabad, and a remote option is not stated on the pages we read.
Internshala
An Indian platform with a work-from-home filter, free for job seekers, aimed at freshers and at experienced people up to five or more years. It has a dedicated work-from-home fresher section.
Its remote page for India showed more than 8,000 remote jobs on the day we checked, with Easy Apply and an "under 10 applicants" filter. The pages did not state a cost for job seekers or which countries each listing hires in.
Indeed India

How to read a location line from India
- "Anywhere" or "Worldwide": open to India. Check the body for a time-zone requirement.
- "APAC": Asia and the Pacific together, so it can include India, but check the posting's own country list. Our explainer on what APAC means in a job posting covers it.
- "India" or "South Asia": the best sign, because the employer has thought about your market.
- "US only" or "Remote (United States)": closed unless you relocate. Read what "remote, US only" means.
- Nothing at all: 48.6% of postings in our index say nothing about where they hire, so ask: "Can you employ or contract someone in India?" is a normal first-call question.
Time zones and getting paid
Four hours of overlap with US Eastern time (9am to 1pm in New York) falls between about 6:30pm and 10:30pm in India while US daylight saving time is in effect, and an hour later in winter. Ask what overlap a team expects before you accept. Our explainer on time-zone overlap covers how much shared time teams usually ask for.
Once an employer can hire in India, ask whether you would be an independent contractor, an employee of a local entity, or an employee of an employer of record. The same gross number can leave different take-home pay and protections, so read our guide to contractor vs employee remote jobs first. A real employer never asks you to pay to apply or to buy equipment before you are hired.
Where RemoteHunt fits
RemoteHunt is not a board you post on. It reads live remote postings from employers' own careers pages and job boards, checks where each one says it can hire, and scores the ones that can hire you from 0 to 100 against your resume, with a written reason. If you have no resume, it builds one with you. It is free to start and you never pay to apply. Use the boards above to browse, and use RemoteHunt to find which postings can hire in India and how well each one fits you. The 90-day pass ($29 once, no renewal, 14-day refund) opens the company and apply link on every match.
For the wider picture, see our list of best remote job boards for candidates outside the US and our look at US remote boards, where pay is shown far more often.
