Role Overview Build your compliance career. Investigate risk. Help protect our customers.
We’re on the lookout for a Junior Compliance & Financial Crime Analyst to join our growing Compliance team. This role will provide additional operational capacity across Compliance and Financial Crime, supporting customer and transaction due diligence, monitoring, investigations and day-to-day compliance activities.
Reporting to the Senior Financial Crime Risk Analyst, you’ll work closely with the broader Compliance team to review customer and transaction activity, investigate potential financial crime concerns, assess supporting information and escalate matters where something doesn’t look right.
This is a hands-on development role and a great opportunity for someone who is curious, analytical and keen to build their capability within a regulated fintech environment. Key Responsibilities Support day-to-day Compliance and Financial Crime activities across customer, recipient and transaction reviews.
Conduct customer and transaction due diligence in accordance with Send’s compliance frameworks, policies and procedures. Review customer information and supporting documentation, including source of funds information where required. Conduct sanctions, politically exposed person (PEP) and adverse media screening and support the investigation of potential matches.
Support Enhanced Customer Due Diligence (ECDD) and higher-risk customer and transaction reviews. Review transaction monitoring alerts and other financial crime risk indicators and conduct initial investigations into unusual activity. Gather and analyse relevant customer, transaction and contextual information to support financial crime investigations.
Clearly document review and investigation findings and escalate unusual, suspicious or higher-risk matters to the Senior Financial Crime Risk Analyst or senior compliance team member. Support the preparation of information and analysis required for suspicious matter reporting and other regulatory reporting activities.
Assist with ongoing and periodic customer due diligence and monitoring activities. Maintain accurate and complete Compliance and Financial Crime records, registers and supporting documentation. Support the management of operational queues and ensure reviews and investigations are progressed within expected timeframes.
Identify recurring issues, unusual patterns or potential control weaknesses and escalate these to the appropriate team member. Assist with data gathering and preparation of Compliance and Financial Crime reporting and management information. Support testing and implementation of improvements to compliance processes, controls and systems.
Work collaboratively with teams across the business to obtain information, resolve queries and support timely compliance outcomes. What We’re Looking For Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Criminology or a related field preferred. 2–3 years’ experience in compliance, AML/CTF, KYC, transaction monitoring, fraud, financial crime, banking operations or a related financial services environment.
Foundational understanding of AML/CTF, customer due diligence and financial crime risk concepts. Strong attention to detail with the ability to review information critically and identify when something requires further investigation or escalation. Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with a natural curiosity to understand the story behind customer and transaction activity.
Strong written communication skills and the ability to clearly document findings, decisions and supporting rationale. Ability to follow established frameworks and procedures while recognising when a matter requires escalation or additional judgement. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while working within operational timeframes.
Comfortable working across different systems and sources of information. Self-starter with curiosity, ownership, a willingness to learn and a collaborative mindset. Desired: Experience in payments, foreign exchange, remittance, banking or fintech.
Exposure to transaction monitoring, financial crime investigations, ECDD or suspicious matter reporting. Familiarity with AML/CTF regulatory requirements and financial crime controls. Experience using customer screening, transaction monitoring or compliance platforms. Experience working in a scaling or fast-paced fintech environment.
