About the project
Glitch Productions is an independent animation and games studio. We're making a game in Unreal Engine 5 based on existing IP involving new and familiar characters and an established art style.
We're a small team that moves quickly. Feedback comes straight from the leads, not through layers of review, so good work gets into the game fast. We're looking for people who take pride in seeing their work all the way through.
About the role
We need a senior 3D artist who's happy working across many asset types and enjoys the range. One week might be a playable character, the next a set of props, the next a new level blocked out with a designer.
The art direction is set by the project's art director. Your job is to bring that style into 3D and into the engine, consistently and at volume. You'll take each asset from first blockout to working in-engine. We'll trust you to solve problems and bring ideas, not just wait for direction.
What you'll do
-
Model, UV and texture stylised characters, props and environment pieces, from concept to final asset
-
Get your own work into UE5: import, set up material instances, LODs and collision, and check it in context
-
Block out spaces and minigame layouts with design, then take them to final art
-
Keep assets inside PC and console performance budgets, and fix problems when they show up in the build
-
Flag issues early and suggest better ways to do things in the art pipeline
-
Give feedback to and support other artists on the team
What you'll need
-
Around 5 years making 3D art for games, with at least one shipped title. A strong portfolio counts for more than years
-
A portfolio of stylised work, ideally including characters, props and environments
-
Proven ability to match an established art style that someone else defined
-
Hands-on experience getting assets working in Unreal Engine 5, not just modelling for it
-
Strong skills in Blender or Maya, plus clean topology, efficient UVs and stylised texturing
-
Comfort working independently: you manage your own priorities, ask questions early and communicate clearly in writing
-
Fluent written and spoken English
Nice to have
-
Blender as your main tool (it's ours)
-
Experience on small or indie teams where you covered several disciplines
-
UE5 material and shader work (you'll have support here, so it isn't required)
-
Basic rigging or skinning knowledge
What we offer
-
Competitive salary and package commensurate with experience
-
A flexible environment with opportunities for hybrid work.
-
A fun office environment where individual input is valued.
-
Regular work functions and free entry to conventions and events.
-
Close to public transport in the heart of Parramatta and Melbourne CBD.
-
Regular company breakfasts/lunches.
-
A diverse team that values independent input and career development.
-
Access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), confidential mental health and well being support, for you and your family
