Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) Solution Architect - 6 to 12 Months Contract

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Architect to lead the solution architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise-scale Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementations and transformation programmes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining end-to-end architecture, translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions, and ensuring seamless integration of D365 with the wider enterprise technology landscape.

The role requires strong expertise across Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Azure, integration architecture, data migration, security, and enterprise application design, together with the ability to engage with senior business stakeholders, technical teams, and delivery partners.

Requirements

1. Solution Architecture & Design

• Own and define the end-to-end solution architecture for Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementations.
• Develop solution architecture blueprints, high-level designs (HLD), low-level designs (LLD), and technical specifications.
• Translate business and functional requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.
• Define architecture principles, design standards, technology roadmaps, and implementation best practices.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, business strategy, and Microsoft technology standards.
• Evaluate standard D365 capabilities against customisation requirements, promoting a configuration-first approach.

2. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Expertise

• Provide architectural leadership across relevant D365 applications, including:

• Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (Finance and Supply Chain Management).

• Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (Sales, Customer Service and Field Service).

• Dynamics 365 Customer Insights.

• Dynamics 365 Business Central, where applicable.

• Define appropriate application architecture, environments, security models, and deployment strategies.

• Guide development teams on extensions, customisations, workflows, business rules, and platform capabilities.

• Ensure solutions are scalable, performant, resilient, and upgrade-friendly.

3. Microsoft Power Platform & Azure

• Define integration and automation strategies using Power Platform.
• Provide architectural guidance on Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse.
• Leverage Microsoft Azure services to support enterprise integration and application architecture.
• Define solutions using Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Service Bus, API Management, and other relevant Azure services.
• Ensure appropriate use of Microsoft cloud services and platform capabilities.

4. Integration & Data Architecture

• Design integration architecture between D365 and third-party enterprise applications.
• Define API strategies, middleware patterns, event-driven architecture, and real-time/batch integrations.
• Lead data migration strategy, data mapping, cleansing, transformation, and validation.
• Ensure data consistency, integrity, governance, and security across integrated systems.
• Work with data architects and engineering teams to define enterprise data models and reporting strategies.

5. Security, Governance & Compliance

• Define role-based security, access management, and segregation of duties.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Establish architectural governance, design reviews, and technical quality standards.
• Identify architectural risks, technical debt, and opportunities for optimisation.
• Ensure adherence to Microsoft cloud security and governance best practices.

6. Technical Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Lead and mentor technical architects, developers, functional consultants, and integration teams.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, programme managers, and delivery partners.
• Facilitate architecture workshops and technical design discussions.
• Review technical deliverables and ensure alignment with the agreed solution architecture.
• Provide technical guidance throughout implementation, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of experience in enterprise IT solution architecture, application architecture, or Microsoft technology consulting.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and delivering Microsoft Dynamics 365 solutions.
• Strong expertise in one or more D365 product areas, with the ability to architect across connected enterprise applications.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, Dataverse, and Azure cloud services.
• Experience with enterprise application integration, REST APIs, SOAP services, middleware, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with data migration, ETL processes, and enterprise data management.
• Knowledge of Microsoft security architecture, identity management, Azure Entra ID, and role-based access control.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, release management, and environment management.
• Strong understanding of Agile and enterprise delivery methodologies.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications & Certifications

• Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Solution Architect Expert (where applicable).
• Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect Expert.
• Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
• Relevant Microsoft Dynamics 365 functional or technical certifications.
• TOGAF certification or equivalent enterprise architecture qualification is desirable.
