Best Remote Job Boards in Africa (2026): Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana

Remote job boards and talent networks for candidates in Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana and across Africa, with our own count of how many live remote postings can hire there.

TL;DR: For remote work from Africa, combine a local board that has a remote filter (Jobberman in Nigeria, MyJobMag in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa) with global boards that show where an employer can hire (Himalayas, Remotive, Working Nomads) and, if you work in tech, a vetted network such as Andela, Turing or Toptal. On 30 September 2026 our index held 2,232 live remote postings open to at least one African country, 4.5% of the 49,928 in total, and only 205 of them name an African country.

The problem: almost nobody writes "Nigeria" in a job posting

A search for your country's name finds a sliver of what is open to you. Employers describe who they can hire by region or by "worldwide", and they seldom list African countries one by one. So the useful question about a board is whether it shows where the employer can hire, not whether it has a page for your country.

What our index shows for Africa

All figures come from our index of live remote postings that employers published themselves on their own careers pages or hiring systems, counted on 30 September 2026. Copies on other job boards are not counted. The method is on our page about how we check every job.

Country by country

"Open" means the posting says it can hire anywhere, or its list of countries or regions includes that country. "Names the country" counts postings whose list names the country itself.

Nigeria has 2,031 open postings and 19 that name it, less than 1%. Searching the country's name on any board shows you a tiny part of the market. Our pages for Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa and Ghana run the wider search for you.

Pay and professions

About one posting in five open to an African country shows pay (19.4%, 434 postings). Among those, the middle of the stated ranges was $130,000 a year in US dollars. That is what employers advertise, and it includes worldwide postings that are often priced for the employer's home market, so treat it as a ceiling, not a local salary.

Boards and networks

We opened each site on 30 September 2026 and report what its own pages say. Where a page did not state something, we say so. We Work Remotely and Careers24 did not load for our check, so they are not listed.

Jobberman

The Nigerian board has a dedicated remote jobs page and filters for job function, industry, work type and experience. Its remote page listed 138 jobs on the day we checked. It says it never asks job seekers for payment.

MyJobMag

It runs separate portals for Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa and the UK, each with a "Remote Jobs" category. It says it does not expect job seekers to pay.

BrighterMonday (Kenya)

A Kenyan board that is free for job seekers and offers free courses and a career assistant. The homepage states no remote filter, so check each listing.

PNet (South Africa)

Lists "partially remote" as a work arrangement. A remote filter and a cost for job seekers are not stated on the pages we read.

Himalayas

Filters for time zone and location, and each listing shows the countries the employer can hire in, for example "United Kingdom only". Free for job seekers, with an optional paid plan.

Remotive

A location filter with regions and countries, including "Worldwide". The free view shows only a small part of the listings, and a paid membership unlocks the rest.

Working Nomads

Regions include Africa, and the site also has country-level listings. It is free to browse, with an optional Premium plan.

Wellfound

A startup job marketplace that says it is always free for candidates and has a remote jobs section. We did not find an African country filter.

Andela

A talent network for technologists, now focused on AI engineering. It says it supports remote work across 135 countries, and it is free to talent, with employers paying. Applicants take an English test, a technical assessment and a live technical interview.

Turing

Remote roles with US companies for developers and other technical people. It says strong English is required, and its steps are a profile, recommendations, assessments and interviews, then onboarding. It does not list which countries are eligible on the page we read.

Toptal

A freelance network that says it accepts the top 3% of applicants, with screening that takes a few weeks. It says the vast majority of its jobs are fully remote.

How to read a location line from Africa

  • "Worldwide" or "Anywhere": open to you, but check the body for a time-zone requirement.
  • "EMEA": Europe, the Middle East and Africa together, so it can include your country. See what EMEA means in a job posting.
  • "Africa": the continent, often a short list of countries behind it. Find yours.
  • "US only" or "Remote (United States)": closed unless you relocate. Read what "remote, US only" means.
  • Nothing at all: 48.6% of postings in our index say nothing about where they hire. Ask the recruiter before you apply.

Getting paid, and staying safe

Once an employer can hire where you live, ask whether you are an independent contractor, an employee of a local entity, or an employee of an employer of record. The same gross number can mean different take-home pay and protections, so compare contractor and employee offers before you compare salaries. Time zones matter too: Nigeria and most of West and Central Africa share much of the working day with Europe, and our guide to working across time zones covers how much overlap teams usually ask for.

A real employer never asks you to pay to apply, buy equipment before you are hired or cover a recruiter's fee. Our guide to remote work red flags lists the patterns, and the local guides for Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa cover how people there get paid.

Where RemoteHunt fits

RemoteHunt is not a board you post on. It reads live remote postings from employers' own careers pages and job boards, checks where each one says it can hire, and scores the ones that can hire you from 0 to 100 against your resume, with a written reason. If you have no resume, it builds one with you. It is free to start and you never pay to apply. Use the boards above to browse, and use RemoteHunt to find out which postings can hire in your country and how well each one fits you. The 90-day pass ($29 once, no renewal, 14-day refund) opens the company and apply link on every match.

FAQ

What are the best remote job boards for Africans?

Start with a local board that has a remote page, such as Jobberman or MyJobMag, then add boards that show where an employer can hire, such as Himalayas, Remotive and Working Nomads. If you work in tech, add Andela, Turing or Toptal.

How many remote jobs can hire in Nigeria?

On 30 September 2026, 2,031 of the 49,928 live remote postings in our index could hire someone in Nigeria, but only 19 named Nigeria. The rest reach you through a region label such as EMEA or Africa, or because the employer says it hires worldwide.

Why do so few remote postings name African countries?

Employers usually write a region or "worldwide" instead of listing countries, and they name a country once they have confirmed they can legally pay someone there. Of the 2,232 postings open to an African country in our index, 205 name one.

Do remote postings open to Africa show salary?

About one in five: 19.4% of the postings open to an African country in our index show a pay figure.

How can RemoteHunt help me find remote jobs from Africa?

RemoteHunt checks where each live remote posting says it can hire and scores the ones open to your country against your resume from 0 to 100, so a worldwide or EMEA role that never writes your country still reaches you.
