TL;DR: For remote QA and testing jobs, use boards that show where each employer can hire (Himalayas, Remotive, Working Nomads, Remote OK), add Wellfound for startups, and check employers' own careers pages too. On 6 October 2026 our index held 396 live remote QA Engineer postings on employers' own careers pages; 26.5% list only European countries, the second-highest share of the 44 professions with 200 or more postings, and only 26.8% state pay.
What is different about this search
The group in this article is one label in our index: QA Engineer. It holds manual testers, QA engineers and test automation engineers (SDET) alike. The most common titles on 6 October 2026 were "qa automation engineer" (9 postings), "senior quality assurance engineer" (6) and "senior software qa engineer (manual testing)" (4). Labels are assigned by a model and are loose, so treat the numbers below as a guide, not a census.
Two things shape the search. First, manual and automation roles are different jobs: automation roles ask for code (a test framework and a programming language), manual roles ask for careful test design and bug reports. Search both words. Second, QA postings are often tied to a region. Read the location line before you read the duties. For skills and a learning path, see our guide to remote QA jobs.

Board by board
Himalayas
Himalayas showed 1,519 remote QA engineer jobs when we checked in October 2026. Each listing carries a label for where the employer can hire, such as "Brazil only", "United States only", "Poland only" or "Canada only". Signing up for job alerts and matches is free.
Remotive
Remotive has a Quality Assurance category that showed 1,863 openings when we checked in October 2026. The free view said we were seeing 0.4% of available roles, and a paid membership opens the rest. Filters cover location, career level, employment type, skills and minimum salary.
Remote OK
Remote OK has a Quality Assurance page that showed 325 results when we checked in October 2026. You can filter by location and sort by pay. It has a paid premium tier that gives early access to apply.
Wellfound
Wellfound showed 222 QA engineer results when we checked in October 2026. Not all were fully remote: some said "Onsite or remote", so look for "Remote only". Many listings show a salary range and the experience asked for.
Working Nomads
Working Nomads has a QA category and says it covers roles such as QA engineer, manual QA tester and test automation engineer. It lets you filter by region (North America, Europe, APAC and others) and by country. Browsing is free; Premium is a paid plan.
Ministry of Testing
Ministry of Testing is a community for testers. Its job board is small: it showed 2 jobs when we checked in October 2026, both in the United Kingdom. It is worth a look for community news and learning, but do not rely on it for volume.
We Work Remotely
We Work Remotely has categories such as Programming, DevOps and Product, but no QA or testing category when we checked in October 2026. QA roles, if any, sit inside other categories.
Test IO (side income, not a job)
Test IO is a crowd-testing platform. Its tester page says you register, add your devices and receive an invitation to your first test, and that you can earn "up to $50 for every issue you find". The page we read mentions no fee for testers. This is paid work by the task, not a salary. Treat it as side income, and treat any site that asks you to pay to join as a scam.
What our index shows for QA testers
These figures come from our index of live remote postings that employers published themselves on their own careers pages or hiring systems: 49,157 on 6 October 2026, with copies on job boards not counted (see how we check every job). The group is the single label QA Engineer. "All professions" is the 32,480 postings our index has sorted by profession.
| Measure, 6 October 2026 | QA Engineer | All professions |
| Live postings | 396 | 32,480 |
| State pay | 26.8% | 42.3% |
| Say they hire worldwide | 5.6% | 3.9% |
| List only the United States | 26.0% | 31.5% |
| List only European countries | 26.5% | 17.9% |
| Do not say where they hire | 15.4% | 23.7% |
| Junior or internship | 10.1% (40) | 8.2% (2,671) |
| Mid-level | 27.8% | 24.0% |
| Senior or above | 56.6% | 58.1% |
Europe comes first. On 6 October 2026, 26.5% of QA Engineer postings listed only European countries. That is the second-highest share of the 44 professions with 200 or more postings. If you live outside Europe, many of these are closed to you.
Pay is rarely written down. Only 26.8% stated any pay figure, against 42.3% across all professions. That is 42nd of the 44 professions. For ranges, see our QA engineer salary page.
Fewer postings leave the country out. Only 15.4% did not say where they hire, against 23.7% across all professions, and 5.6% said they hire worldwide, the fourth-highest share of the 44 professions.
Counting job boards as well, our index held 942 live QA postings on 6 October 2026, and 546 of them (58.0%) were seen only through job boards, against 50.4% across all professions. For QA, the boards above carry more of the market than for most roles. Browse the live remote QA engineer openings.
Europe-only and open to India
Where QA postings can hire is unusual. The table counts postings that say they hire worldwide or whose list includes the country. Postings that say nothing are not counted.
| Say they can hire in, 6 October 2026 | QA Engineer postings | Share of 396 | All professions |
| United States | 137 | 34.6% | 40.2% |
| Poland | 63 | 15.9% | 10.3% |
| India | 55 | 13.9% | 6.7% |
| Mexico | 34 | 8.6% | 8.4% |
| Brazil | 33 | 8.3% | 7.5% |
| Philippines | 29 | 7.3% | 5.8% |
| Nigeria | 29 | 7.3% | 5.9% |
India stands out: 13.9% of QA postings said they can hire there, about twice the 6.7% across all professions. The Philippines and Nigeria are also above the all-professions share. So QA is one of the better roles to search from India, and a little better than average from the Philippines and Nigeria. Our India page lists postings that say they can hire there. Employers that had postings under this label on 6 October 2026 included Veeva (6), OpenAI (4) and Binance (3).
Manual testing or test automation
Of the 396 postings, 268 stated an employment type: 235 full-time, 25 contractor, 9 temporary and 6 part-time. These are floors, because 128 postings stated no type. A contractor role usually means you invoice the company and handle your own tax and leave; compare the two in our guide to contractor and employee remote jobs.
Pure manual testing is the harder search. The titles at the top of our list are automation roles, and 56.6% of postings are senior or above. If you are starting out, 10.1% (40 postings) were junior or internship level, against 8.2% across all professions. Learn one automation tool and one language, and show a small project. Our resume checker shows how a resume reads against a job text. DevOps roles overlap with test automation; see our job boards for DevOps engineers.
Crowd testing and "paid testing" sites
Crowd-testing platforms pay per task or per issue found. They can add a little income, but they are not a salary: invitations may depend on your devices and language, and you are paid only for the work they accept. A real employer, or a real platform, never asks you to pay to apply, to join, for training or for equipment. If a "paid testing" site wants a fee, a deposit or your bank login first, leave. Our guide to remote work red flags lists the patterns.
Where RemoteHunt fits
RemoteHunt is not a board you post on. It reads live remote postings from employers' own careers pages and job boards, checks where each one says it can hire, and scores the ones that can hire you from 0 to 100 against your resume, with a written reason. If you have no resume, it builds one with you. It is free to start and you never pay to apply. The 90-day pass ($29 once, no renewal, 14-day refund) opens the company and apply link on every match.
FAQ
Which job boards are best for remote QA tester jobs?
No single board covers the field. Himalayas, Remotive, Remote OK and Working Nomads list remote QA roles with a location label or filter, and Wellfound covers startups. Also check employers' own careers pages: on 6 October 2026 our index held 396 live remote QA Engineer postings there.
Are remote QA jobs open to people outside Europe and the US?
Some are. On 6 October 2026, 26.5% of the 396 live remote QA Engineer postings in our index listed only European countries, 26.0% listed only the United States and 5.6% said they hire worldwide. 55 postings (13.9%) said they can hire in India, against 6.7% across all professions.
Do remote QA jobs state their pay?
Rarely. On 6 October 2026, only 26.8% of the 396 live remote QA Engineer postings in our index stated a pay figure, against 42.3% across all professions, which is 42nd of the 44 professions with 200 or more postings.
Can I earn money from paid testing sites?
A little, as side income. Test IO's tester page says testers can earn up to $50 for every issue they find, and it mentions no fee when we checked in October 2026. Pay is by task, not a salary. Any site that asks you to pay to join is a scam.
How can RemoteHunt help me find remote QA jobs?
RemoteHunt checks where each live remote posting says it can hire and scores the ones open to you against your resume from 0 to 100, with a written reason for each score. For QA, that shows which postings can hire in your country before you apply, so Europe-only roles do not waste your time.
