TL;DR: For remote network engineer, system administrator and IT infrastructure jobs, start with Dice for US roles and contract work, add We Work Remotely and Remotive for remote-only lists, and use Himalayas to see which countries each employer can hire in. On 7 October 2026 our index held 370 live remote postings with network, IT support, system administration or security operations titles from employers' own careers pages; 27.3% listed only the United States and 38.4% did not say where they hire.
What is different about this search
Remote network and IT work is a smaller market than software or DevOps. Much of it is tied to places: data centers, offices, cabling, on-site hardware. Look for remote roles in three places: network teams at cloud, hosting and software companies, IT support and IT operations teams at companies with staff spread across countries, and security operations (SOC) teams. Search all the names this work goes by: network engineer, systems administrator, IT engineer, IT support engineer, IT operations, infrastructure engineer and SOC analyst.
Two things decide whether a remote posting works for you. The first is where the employer can hire: an IT admin who manages laptops and accounts often has to sit in the same country as the staff. The second is on-call duty: network and IT teams answer outages out of hours, so ask how the rota works. If your work is closer to cloud platforms and automation, read our job boards for DevOps engineers too.

Board by board
Dice
Dice is a US tech job board. A search for "network engineer" with the Remote workplace filter showed 103 results when we checked in October 2026. Listings show the employment type, such as Contract, Full-time, Part-time or Third Party, and many show an hourly rate or a salary. "Third Party" usually means a staffing firm, so read who the real client is.
We Work Remotely
We Work Remotely has a Devops and Sysadmin category. When we checked in October 2026 it showed 18 listings, 11 of them labeled "Anywhere in the World" and 5 labeled for the United States. Most titles were cloud, DevOps and security roles rather than classic system administration, so it suits engineers who also script and automate.
Remotive
Remotive has a DevOps category that counted 1,350 openings when we checked in October 2026. Each listing carries a location tag such as USA, LATAM or Worldwide. The free view said we were seeing 0.4% of available roles, and a paid membership opens the rest.
Himalayas
Himalayas has a network engineer page and is free for job seekers. Each listing carries a label for where the employer can hire, such as "United States only", "Canada only", "Mexico only", "India only" or "Philippines only". That label is the fastest way to skip roles that cannot hire you.
Hacker News "Who is hiring?"
Hacker News runs a "Who is hiring?" thread at the start of each month; the October 2026 thread was posted on 1 October. Its rules say to post only if you are part of the hiring company, with no recruiting firms or job boards, and to write "REMOTE (US)" or similar when the country is restricted. In the part of the thread we read on 7 October we saw no posts for network or IT support roles, so treat it as a source for infrastructure work at software companies and search the page for "network" and "infrastructure".
ClearanceJobs
ClearanceJobs is a job board for roles that need a US federal security clearance. Its home page advertised 80,550 security clearance jobs from 1,805 hiring companies when we checked in October 2026. It did not show a remote filter on that page, so check where each role is based. Jobs that need a clearance are generally limited to US citizens.
LinkedIn is the volume source for network and IT jobs, including the many roles posted by staffing firms. Put "remote" in the search words, filter by date, and check the location line of every posting, because city-based roles show up in remote searches.
What our index shows for network and IT roles
These figures come from our index of live remote postings that employers published themselves on their own careers pages or hiring systems: 52,072 on 7 October 2026, copies on job boards not counted (see how we check every job). No single profession label in our index covers this work, so the group here is by title: the 370 postings whose title names network engineering, IT support, IT operations, system administration, help desk, security operations (SOC) or similar work. The comparison column is the whole index.
| Measure, 7 October 2026 | Network and IT roles | Whole index |
| Live postings | 370 | 52,072 |
| State pay | 42.4% | 38.9% |
| List only the United States | 27.3% | 22.7% |
| List only the US and/or Canada | 30.0% | 26.0% |
| List only European countries | 14.6% | 13.1% |
| Do not say where they hire | 38.4% | 45.2% |
| Junior or internship | 9.7% (36) | 6.0% |
| Mid-level | 23.8% | 16.7% |
| Senior or above | 37.3% | 40.1% |
These roles lean to the United States. On 7 October 2026, 27.3% of the 370 postings listed only the United States, against 22.7% across the whole index. For pay ranges, see our network engineer salary page.
"Worldwide" is rare, and rarer when you read the posting. Our index read 14 of the 370 postings (3.8%) as open worldwide, but only 2 of them said in their own words that they hire anywhere. Treat a "worldwide" tag on any board as a lead to check, not a promise.
There is more entry-level work here than in most of tech. 36 of the 370 postings (9.7%) were junior or internship level, against 6.0% across the whole index. Search "IT support", "help desk" and "junior systems administrator" to find them.
Counting job boards as well, our index held 750 live postings with these titles on 7 October 2026, and 380 of them (50.7%) were seen only through job boards, against 43.7% across the whole index.
Where these roles can hire
The table counts postings whose hiring list includes the country, plus the few that say in their own words that they hire anywhere. Postings that say nothing are not counted.

| United States | 116 | 31.4% | 26.7% |

Before you apply: three checks
- Contract or employee. On 7 October 2026, 225 of the 370 postings stated an employment type: 216 full-time and 7 contractor. Staffing firms on Dice and LinkedIn often offer contracts. Our contractor and employee guide explains how pay, tax and leave differ.
- Hardware and travel. Ask whether the role ever needs a site visit, a data center shift or equipment shipped to you.
- Certificates. Many postings ask for vendor certificates. Check that a certificate is actually required before you pay for one. A real employer never asks you to pay to apply, for training or for equipment.

Where RemoteHunt fits
RemoteHunt is not a board you post on. It reads live remote postings from employers' own careers pages and job boards, checks where each one says it can hire, and scores the ones that can hire you from 0 to 100 against your resume, with a written reason. If you have no resume, it builds one with you. It is free to start and you never pay to apply. The 90-day pass ($29 once, no renewal, 14-day refund) opens the company and apply link on every match.
