Best Remote Job Boards for Cybersecurity Jobs (2026)

Where to find remote cybersecurity jobs: Himalayas, Foorilla, Wellfound, Hacker News and more, with data from 591 live security engineer postings.

TL;DR: For senior remote cybersecurity jobs, use Himalayas to see which countries each employer can hire in, Foorilla's InfoSec & Privacy section for security-only listings, and Wellfound and the Hacker News "Who is hiring?" thread for security roles at software companies. On 8 October 2026 our index held 591 live remote postings labeled Security Engineer on employers' own careers pages; 67.5% were senior level or above and 42.6% listed only the US and/or Canada.

What is different about this search

Remote security work is real, but not evenly open. Many government and defense roles need US citizenship or a US security clearance, and they cannot hire you from abroad whatever the board says. So read the hiring country before the title.

Two more things filter experienced candidates. On-call and time zones: detection, incident response and SOC teams run rotas, and a role "remote in EMEA" may expect you to cover European hours (see our guide to timezone overlap). Certifications: many postings name a certificate. Check whether it says "required" or "preferred" before you count yourself out; our guide to remote security engineer jobs covers which ones employers ask for. If your work leans to cloud platforms and pipelines, read our job boards for DevOps engineers too.

Board by board

Himalayas

Himalayas has a security engineer page, and a profile is free. When we checked in October 2026, listings carried labels such as "United States only", "Canada only", "India only" and "Poland only", and many showed a salary range. That label is the fastest way to skip roles that cannot hire you.

Foorilla (InfoSec & Privacy)

Foorilla now hosts the security board that used to live at infosec-jobs.com, which redirects there. Its InfoSec & Privacy section covers cybersecurity, forensics, penetration testing and reverse engineering, and showed 13,446 new jobs in the last 60 days when we checked in October 2026. Most are office jobs, so set the region filter to "Remote" or "Remote Anywhere". Listings carry level tags (EN, MI, SE), and you can filter by a minimum salary in dollars or euros.

Wellfound

Wellfound lists startup jobs. Its security engineer page showed 843 results when we checked in October 2026, many with a salary range and some with an equity range. Location lines vary: some say remote only in Brazil or Europe, others remote in the United States. You sign up to search.

Hacker News "Who is hiring?"

Hacker News runs a "Who is hiring?" thread each month; the October 2026 thread was posted on 1 October. Its rules say only people at the hiring company may post, and to write "REMOTE (US)" or similar when the country is restricted. Of the 243 company posts we read on 8 October, about 10 named a security role, mostly application and product security.

We Work Remotely

We Work Remotely has no security category; 3 of the 18 listings in its DevOps and Sysadmin category were security roles when we checked in October 2026, one labeled "Anywhere in the World". The free Basic account browses and saves jobs, the paid WWR Pro adds applications, and only "Boosted" listings take applications without a subscription.

Dice

Dice is a US tech job board. A remote "security engineer" search showed 492 results when we checked in October 2026. Listings show the type, such as Full-time, Contract or "Contract, Third Party" (usually a staffing firm), and at least one required existing US work authorization.

ClearanceJobs

ClearanceJobs lists roles that need a US federal security clearance. Its home page advertised 81,621 security clearance jobs from 1,806 hiring companies when we checked in October 2026, and its search has a "Remote/Hybrid" filter. For readers outside the US it shows how much security work is closed to non-citizens.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is the volume source. Put "remote" in the search words, use the exact titles employers use, and check the location line of every posting.

Also checked. CyberSecJobs.com sends job seekers to ClearedJobs.Net, which says US citizenship and an active or current clearance are required.

What our index shows for cybersecurity

These figures come from our index of live remote postings that employers published themselves on their own careers pages or hiring systems; copies on job boards and office or hybrid jobs are not counted (see how we check every job). The group is the 591 postings our index files under the Security Engineer label, our only security label. "All professions" is the 25,804 postings our index has sorted by profession.

Security postings state pay more often than most. On 8 October 2026, 53.1% of the 591 postings stated pay, 7th of the 41 professions with 200 or more postings. The median band rests on 308 postings with a yearly salary; see our security engineer salary page.

They lean to North America, and "worldwide" needs checking. 42.6% listed only the US and/or Canada, against 35.9% across all professions. Our index read 6.3% as open worldwide (9th of the 41), but only 8 of the 591 said in their own words that they hire anywhere. A posting that does not say where it hires is not open worldwide; read our guide to what "remote (US only)" means.

Counting job boards as well, our index held 1,362 live Security Engineer postings on 8 October 2026, and 771 of them (56.6%) were seen only through job boards, against 56.8% across all labelled postings.

A wider group built from job titles (1,111 postings naming security work such as SOC, GRC, pentest, AppSec, DevSecOps, IAM, detection, incident response or CISO) gives a similar picture: over its 724 labelled rows, 34.0% listed only the US and 25.6% did not say where they hire.

Where these jobs can hire you

"List includes" counts postings whose hiring list contains the country, directly or through a region such as "EMEA" or "Latin America". "Names it itself" counts lists that name the country.

About one in four lists a country outside the US and Canada: 152 of the 591 postings (25.7%) on 8 October 2026, against 34.4% across all professions.

Nigeria and the Philippines come only through regions. No security posting named either country; the 13 and 9 that include them do so through a wider region, so confirm your country with the recruiter. For India, see our remote jobs in India page.

Level and contract type

This is a senior market. On 8 October 2026, 67.5% of the 591 postings were senior level or above, 19.3% mid-level and 4.2% (25) junior or internship, against 58.0%, 24.1% and 7.9% across all professions. Search the titles employers use most: security engineer, product security engineer and application security engineer. Of the 297 postings that stated an employment type, 285 said full-time and 7 contractor. Employers with postings under this label on 8 October 2026 included Elastic, Sophos, GitLab, Zscaler and Wiz. A real employer never asks you to pay to apply, for training or for equipment.

Where RemoteHunt fits

RemoteHunt is not a board you post on. It reads live remote postings from employers' own careers pages and job boards, checks where each one says it can hire, and scores the ones that can hire you from 0 to 100 against your resume, with a written reason. If you have no resume, it builds one with you. It is free to start and you never pay to apply.
