About the Role
We’re looking for someone to run Developer Advocacy in EMEA. You’ll get to shape how developers across the region first find Temporal, and you’ll also see it through to the other end, helping our biggest customers build serious systems on it.
You’ll manage a team of advocates, but this isn’t a desk job. You’ll still give talks, run workshops, write code, and sit down with customers yourself. If it’s been a while since you built a demo from scratch, this probably isn’t the right fit.
EMEA covers a lot of ground. The UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the Nordics have big developer communities and some of our largest customers.
You’ll spend a lot of time with our Marketing department on events and community, and with Sales, Solutions Architects, and Developer Success on customer accounts. Good relationships with all of them are your key to success.
What You'll Do
-
Hire, coach, and support a team of Developer Advocates spread across the region. Set priorities, then trust them to adapt to their own markets and audiences.
-
Decide how the team splits its time between community and customer work. Sort incoming customer requests by deal size, stage, and strategic value, and make the tough calls when there’s more demand than people, without letting community work get pushed aside.
-
Work with Marketing to plan where we show up in EMEA: which conferences to speak at and which meetups to start or support.
-
Create and localize content that developers in the region will use, like talks, tutorials, blog posts, videos, sample apps, and livestreams.
-
Find the people in local communities who care about the problems Temporal solves and help them lead, contribute to open source, and spread the word.
-
Track whether it’s working: are more developers signing up, trying Temporal, and sticking around?
-
Own DevDays, our onsite customer engagement program, in EMEA from start to finish. Work with the Global DevDays lead to tailor each one to the customer’s use cases.
-
Spot the engineers inside each account who could become champions, and make sure someone follows up with them.
-
Take what you hear from developers and customers back to Docs, Education, and Product, especially around language, data residency, and what different markets need.
What You Bring
-
Experience in developer advocacy, solutions engineering, developer education, or technical community work, ideally in a developer-first company.
-
People leadership experience or a clear readiness to step into it; you can coach senior individual contributors while still doing the work yourself.
-
Strong hands-on technical credibility: you can build, demo, and teach, and earn the respect of senior enterprise engineers.
-
An operational, execution-first mindset: you can run a repeatable program, manage intake and prioritization, and keep commitments against an SLA.
-
Comfort working cross-functionally with Sales, SAs, Dev Success, Product, and Marketing, and translating technical engagement into commercial impact.
-
Experience operating across a linguistically and culturally diverse region and coordinating a distributed team across multiple time zones; additional European languages are a plus.
-
A genuine passion for empowering developers and creating authentic, high-trust community experiences, not sales pitches.
-
Familiarity with durable execution, workflow orchestration, or distributed systems (e.g., Temporal) is a strong plus.
