Stack Builders is an international software consultancy that helps globally admired companies build exceptional software. We're looking for a collaborative Senior Full-Stack Python Engineer to join our team and help a US healthcare benefits administrator modernize its core systems. You'll build new applications from the ground up with Django and React on Azure, and integrate them with a commercial claims administration platform and an enterprise data lakehouse. Learn more about us here !

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy owning a feature end-to-end, from the data model and API to the screen a business user works in, and who are comfortable turning complex business rules into well-tested code.

You'll work with the client's IT and business teams and other Stack Builders engineers on several related projects running in parallel, in an environment that handles protected health information and where correctness matters.

What You'll Do

  • Build web applications end-to-end with Django, Django REST Framework, and React.
  • Design and document versioned REST APIs that other teams and systems build against.
  • Implement calculation-heavy business logic, such as insurance rating and renewal rules, and back it with thorough automated tests.
  • Integrate with third-party APIs and enterprise data platforms, handling rate limits, retries, and audit trails.
  • Contribute to architecture decisions across projects that share services and conventions.
  • Work directly with client stakeholders to clarify requirements and validate results.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience in full-stack or backend development.
  • Strong Python and Django experience in production environments, including Django REST Framework.
  • Production experience with React and TypeScript.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and/or a related technical field.
  • Solid PostgreSQL skills, including schema design and migrations.
  • Experience designing and integrating REST APIs, including async processing with tools like Celery and Redis.
  • Strong testing habits, with unit tests (pytest) and end-to-end tests (Playwright or similar).
  • Experience deploying containerized applications to a cloud environment (Azure preferred).
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot), including writing clear specs and reviewing generated code. Critical thinking when evaluating and applying AI technologies.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills and comfort working directly with clients.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in healthcare, insurance, benefits administration, or with HIPAA-regulated data.
  • Experience with Azure services (Container Apps, Key Vault, Entra ID) and GitHub Actions.
  • Experience turning spreadsheet-based business models into code.
  • Experience with versioned or effective-dated data.
  • Experience generating PDF documents from application data.
  • Consulting or client-facing experience.

Benefits

Why Join Us?

  • 100% remote and flexible modality.
  • A human-centered experience in a people-first company.
  • Challenging, full-time, and long-term projects with globally admired companies.
  • A strong learning culture and regular pairing sessions to build high-quality code while sharing knowledge.
  • Opportunities for conference participation, OSS contributions, tutorials, blog posts, and technical talks.
  • Exceptionally talented and passionate coworkers.
  • Timely payments, with the flexibility to choose the payment date modality that best suits your needs.
  • A Stack Builders community to support you and grow with you!
