Salvo Software is a global technology company specializing in custom software development and advanced engineering solutions. With distributed teams across the US, LATAM, and India, we partner with clients to build high-performance, scalable systems that solve complex technical challenges. Our culture values innovation, ownership, and engineering excellence.

Role Overview We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to serve as the sole technical owner of our cloud environments, delivery pipelines, and AI infrastructure. In this “department of one” role, you will be the foundational expert ensuring that our hand-selected teams have the secure, high-performance infrastructure they need to deliver excellence to our partners.

This position is fully DevOps-focused, owning CI/CD, automation, cloud infrastructure, security, and AI systems end to end.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cloud Architecture: Design, manage, and optimize cloud infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure to support both internal needs and client-facing digital transformations.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Define and manage infrastructure through code (Terraform or similar) to keep environments consistent, reproducible, and auditable.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.) to ensure rapid, high-quality software delivery.
  • Containerization: Oversee Docker and Kubernetes environments to ensure scalable and reliable application hosting.
  • Observability: Manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively address performance and availability issues.
  • Cloud Security & Access: Define and enforce identity, access management, and least-privilege controls, including strict access levels for sensitive, licensed OEM data to ensure project-based compliance.
  • Cost Optimization: Monitor cloud spend and right-size resources to keep infrastructure efficient as the company scales.
  • AI Systems: Set up, integrate, and maintain AI/ML systems and tooling to support the company’s growing use of intelligent automation.
  • Programming & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts and internal tooling using Python, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Infrastructure Strategy: Guide the company’s infrastructure roadmap, evaluating tools and practices and recommending what’s worth adopting.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in a DevOps or Cloud Engineering role. Proven ability to operate independently in a solo contributor capacity.
  • Hands-on, deep experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure (architecture, cost optimization, security).
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform or similar tools.
  • Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production.
  • Hands-on experience designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar platforms).
  • Strong scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of cloud security, IAM, secrets management, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Hands-on experience deploying or managing AI/ML systems or LLM-based tooling.
  • A “smart decision-maker” who can guide the company’s infrastructure strategy while remaining deeply hands-on with daily tasks.
  • Comfortable supporting a global team across different time zones (US, Mexico, India).
