Software Engineer - BrandX

Olo is a leading SaaS platform accelerating digital transformation in the restaurant industry, by helping customers deliver more personalised and profitable guest experiences. As a result, our digital ordering, payment, loyalty and guest engagement solutions enable brands to do more with less and make every guest feel like a regular.

While our roots are in NYC, we’re intentionally investing in Belfast and Northern Ireland as a key hub, with an established leadership presence, a local team, and community for the long term. This role is fully remote, offering you flexibility to work from anywhere within NI.

Your new role

In this role, you’ll join as a Software Engineer on the ‘ BrandX’ team, which is part of the wider ‘ Order Engineering ’ group.

BrandX (Brand Experience) builds the tools restaurant brands and Olo's internal teams use to run their business on Olo. We own the Dashboard that brand operators log into every day, the internal Admin application, and the billing and invoicing systems that turn platform usage into invoices. We also own how brands sign in and manage their users, including SSO and two-factor authentication, and we are building Olo AI Assist, a natural-language assistant inside the Dashboard.

The team is seven engineers spread across the US and Europe, and you'd be our first hire in Northern Ireland. Because the team sits between brands, Finance, and the rest of Order Engineering, the work is varied. One week you might be shipping a new Dashboard settings page, the next you're tracing a billing discrepancy across our finance integrations or teaching Olo AI Assist a new skill so a brand can update hours across hundreds of stores just by asking. You'll pair with senior engineers, review and ship code most days, and use Claude Code as a normal part of how you work.

How you’ll make an impact:

• Learn the BrandX domain and technology stack, and get to know the brands, Finance partners, and Order Engineering teams we work with.

• Own small-to-medium features end to end, from understanding the requirement to shipping it, with senior engineers available when you need them.

• Write code that meets our standards, and participate in code reviews as both author and reviewer.

• Build reliable and maintainable software, with test coverage that matches the risk of the change.

• Contribute to the team’s delivery pipeline, including test coverage, CI, and deployment practices.

• Use Claude Code and GitHub Copilot as your default way of building, and help the team push what these tools can do.

• Troubleshoot and debug production issues, learning how our systems fit together along the way.

• Participate in team ceremonies such as daily stand-ups and retrospectives, sharing updates and feedback.

• Take part in learning activities, including game days and training sessions, to build familiarity with Olo’s tools and processes.

• Join the on-call rotation, with responsibilities that grow as you learn the team’s systems.

What will set you up for success:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 1 to 3 years of professional software engineering experience, or a strong portfolio of shipped projects.

• Working knowledge of C# and .NET, and comfort reading code you didn't write.

• Some experience building web UIs. We use React and TypeScript, but any modern framework is a fine starting point.

• Comfortable with SQL and relational data. A lot of our work is understanding how data moves between systems.

• You understand the difference between unit, integration, and end-to-end tests and when each one earns its place.

• AI coding agents are your default way of working. You use tools like Claude Code daily, you can explain the fundamentals underneath what they generate, and you're excited about a team that expects you to push them further.

• You ask questions early, write things down, and are comfortable working with colleagues in other time zones.
