THE OPPORTUNITY
National Technologies is seeking a Director of National Labor Coordination to lead enterprise-wide planning, visibility, and allocation of field labor resources. This leader will create a national view of current and future labor demand and ensure the right people are positioned on the right projects at the right time.
Serving as the central coordination point for traveling field labor, this role works across programs, markets, project teams, and operations leadership to anticipate manpower needs before they become project emergencies. The role brings labor demand, employee capabilities, leadership needs, timing, geography, and future assignments together into one national strategy.
WHAT YOU WILL LEAD
- Maintain a forward-looking national labor-demand forecast across active and upcoming projects.
- Maintain visibility into available and committed field resources, including employees approaching demobilization and their next assignments.
- Coordinate mobilizations, demobilizations, transfers, and future assignments across projects, programs, markets, and geographic regions.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive field skills registry covering employee experience, certifications, technical strengths, leadership capability, customer experience, travel availability, and project history.
- Match employee capabilities to project requirements, looking beyond job classifications alone.
- Identify future labor shortages, surpluses, and capability gaps before they affect project execution.
- Coordinate staffing requirements with project, program, and operations leadership.
- Manage critical traveling personnel as national organizational resources rather than isolated market resources.
- Forecast future recruiting and manpower requirements and coordinate leadership succession needs with National Labor Development.
- Provide executive leadership with labor forecasts, utilization information, risk assessments, and resource recommendations.
- Develop standardized manpower-request and forecasting processes, and challenge unsupported or excessive requests.
- Reduce unnecessary dependence on external labor through stronger internal resource planning.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Success in this role will be reflected in:
- Accurate national labor forecasts.
- Critical positions filled when required.
- Fewer emergency staffing requests.
- Improved utilization of internal employees.
- Reduced unnecessary use of external labor.
- Stronger skill-to-project matching.
- Greater visibility into future labor demand.
- Fewer resource conflicts between markets and programs.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Significant experience in construction operations, workforce planning, field operations, labor coordination, or large-project staffing.
- Strong understanding of construction labor requirements and field-leadership structures.
- Experience coordinating labor across multiple projects, markets, or geographic regions.
- The ability to evaluate employee capabilities beyond job classifications alone.
- Strong planning, forecasting, organizational, and analytical skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and resolve resource conflicts.
- Strong communication skills and credibility with both field and office leadership.
- Experience in union construction environments is strongly preferred.
- Telecommunications, data center, mission-critical, electrical, or related construction experience is preferred.
THE LEADER WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You understand that manpower planning is more than filling names into open positions. You can evaluate individual capabilities, project requirements, leadership needs, timing, geography, and future demand, then turn those variables into an objective national labor strategy. You make difficult resource recommendations based on the needs of the entire organization, balance project requirements against broader portfolio priorities, and prevent valuable resources from becoming unnecessarily siloed.
