About MFAN
The Military Family Advisory Network (MFAN) is a national nonprofit dedicated to understanding and serving the modern military family. We bring together research, data, and real-life stories to inform decision-makers, create community connections, and drive solutions that improve military family well-being. We are a nimble, mission-driven team passionate about making meaningful changes in the lives of those who serve and their loved ones.
Job Summary
The Hampton Roads Coordinator serves as a local representative of the Military Family Advisory Network (MFAN), helping connect military families to valuable programs, resources, and community support. This role supports the implementation and growth of MFAN's PCS Pantry Restock Box program throughout the Hampton Roads Peninsula, including Hampton, Newport News, and Yorktown.
This is a highly interactive, community-facing role ideal for someone who enjoys meeting new people, building relationships, and being actively involved in their local military community. The Coordinator will regularly attend military installation briefings, community events, and outreach opportunities to represent MFAN, share information about our programs, engage directly with military families, and build relationships with local organizations and partners. The ideal candidate is outgoing, approachable, and comfortable initiating conversations with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.
The role also requires a willingness to roll up your sleeves and handle the hands-on logistics of community outreach, including transporting materials and supplies, setting up and breaking down event tables and displays, and distributing promotional materials. Successful candidates will be dependable, organized, resourceful, and equally comfortable engaging with families at an event or independently coordinating the details that make those events successful.
This is a part-time, 1099 contractor opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting military families, enjoys working independently, and wants to make a meaningful impact in their local community.
