The full posting
You take over and force-multiply our existing electrical design automation. We've already automated 50% of electrical engineering. Your job is to push it the rest of the way.
You'll deliver real power-system engineering on live data center and industrial projects while building the parametric engine that makes electrical design repeatable for every future site.
You don't need a software background. You need to understand electricity, power-system architecture, and the trade-offs behind engineering decisions — and be able to turn that knowledge into code with AI.
What you’ll achieve
- Deliver complete electrical engineering packages: load calculations, single-line diagrams, panel and cable schedules, conduit and equipment sizing, and construction sets.
- Own power-system studies, including load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and related analysis using ETAP, SKM, or similar tools.
- Engineer medium- and low-voltage distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, and data center power architectures.
- Automate electrical calculations, equipment selection, system configuration, drawing generation, and engineering documentation.
- Build and refine parametric design engines that generate electrical deliverables from a single project template.
- Connect electrical design with mechanical and structural systems so engineering changes automatically propagate across disciplines.
- Use AI coding agents (Claude Code and similar) to develop and ship these workflows.
Requirements
You must
- Understand power systems deeply — power flow, fault behavior, protection, grounding, equipment behavior, and electrical-system trade-offs.
- Have designed, built, tested, or commissioned real electrical or power systems.
- Be comfortable solving engineering problems from first principles rather than relying exclusively on conventional tools.
- Be able to ship code with AI tools today, even without prior software development experience.
- Have exceptional ownership and the ability to deliver technically sound solutions independently.
You do not need to
- Hold a PE license (helpful, not required).
- Have a CS degree or traditional software background.
- Have direct data center, construction, or AEC experience.
- Have memorized every engineering standard. Understanding the principles underneath them matters more.
Experience with power electronics, medium-voltage systems, industrial power distribution, substations, or first-of-a-kind electrical hardware is particularly interesting.
