The Role: Apryse is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Technical Writer to join our team and help update and create content to make clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation for our SDK products. As a Senior Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating and updating high-quality documentation aimed at developers who leverage Apryse’s SDKs to build critical document processing workflows in their solutions. You will work closely with our development and product teams to understand technical features and review and update draft content, including guides, concept content, and code samples. You’ll also create release notes. Responsibilities : Review, update, and maintain clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for software development tools and SDKs products. Collaborate with product managers and developers to review and update best-in-class technical guides that align with product roadmaps and developer needs. Partner with engineers to establish and enforce a unified documentation style, ensuring a consistent tone and structure. Create and deliver targeted release notes for effective and compelling communication of product updates. Gather feedback from stakeholders and the developer community to refine documentation for clarity, usability, and technical accuracy. Champion Developer Experience best practices, staying current on new technologies to keep docs relevant and comprehensive. Perform content updates based on audit results. Test SDK documentation and make updates based on findings. Desired Skills: Strong understanding of software development concepts, APIs, and SDKs, with the ability to read and understand code and translate technical concepts into clear developer documentation. Experience working across multiple operating systems and platforms, including understanding platform, architecture, runtime, and native dependency requirements. Familiarity with package managers and build tools, such as npm, Maven, Gradle, NuGet, pip, or CMake. Proficiency with Git and GitHub and experience navigating source code, repositories, branches, pull requests, releases, and sample applications. Working knowledge of command-line tools and shell environments for installing, configuring, building, running, and troubleshooting SDK applications. Understanding of API specifications and documentation technologies, such as OpenAPI/Swagger, JSON Schema, Javadoc, or language-specific API reference tools. Ability to test and validate documentation and code samples by building and running SDK applications and verifying expected results. Working knowledge of debugging and troubleshooting, with the ability to investigate common errors, logs, configuration issues, and dependency problems. Familiarity with Docker and containerized development and a general understanding of CI/CD and server deployment workflows. Ability to collaborate effectively with software engineers, architects, product managers, and developer experience teams to understand SDK behavior and produce accurate, developer-focused documentation. Familiarity with AI-assisted documentation and automation, including using AI tools to research, draft, review, and maintain technical content and streamline documentation workflows. Understanding of AI-ready documentation, including structured and machine-readable content, semantic search, RAG, and approaches for making documentation discoverable and usable by AI tools and agents. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or a related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of relevant experience developing documentation with a developer audience, including SDK and API documentation. Experience managing large and complex documentation sets and developing well-structured and effective information architecture. Ability to understand complex technical topics and translate them into easy-to-understand documentation. Proven experience working independently and as part of cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment, engaging seamlessly with product managers, product marketing, and engineers.
