About Ajaia

Ajaia is an AI implementation consultancy and product studio. We build software that helps organizations use AI in real work. We are growing our engineering team to build education technology products.

The role

You will lead the build of our EdTech products. You will own the architecture, guide a small team of developers, and write code yourself. You will work closely with product and design to ship things that teachers, students, and administrators actually use.

What you'll do

  • Lead the technical design of learning platforms and tools
  • Review code, set standards, and mentor developers
  • Build and ship features end to end (front end, back end, data)
  • Integrate with school systems such as LMS platforms, SIS, and single sign-on
  • Add AI features such as tutoring, content generation, and learning insights
  • Use AI tools in your daily work and help the team do the same
  • Set clear rules for safe AI use, especially with student data
  • Make sure the product is secure, fast, and accessible
  • Work with product and design to turn ideas into a release plan

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development, with at least 2 years leading or mentoring developers
  • Real experience building EdTech products (LMS, assessment tools, tutoring apps, or similar)
  • Strong skills in React or Next.js, and in Node.js or Python
  • Experience with cloud hosting (AWS, GCP, or Azure), databases, and APIs
  • Hands-on experience building AI features with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar)
  • Daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) and good judgment on when to trust their output
  • Knowledge of education standards such as LTI, SCORM, or xAPI
  • Understanding of student data privacy (FERPA, COPPA) and accessibility (WCAG)
  • Clear communication with both technical and non-technical people

Nice to have

  • Experience with RAG or AI agents in a product
  • Learning analytics or adaptive learning experience
  • Past work with schools, universities, or ed-tech startups

Benefits

  • Compensation: Competitive Base Salary + Performance Bonus
  • Remote work with earned flexibility.
  • Work on AI products with real clients
  • Lead the technical direction of a growing EdTech product line
