About the Role:
The Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer will serve as a senior technical leader and subject matter expert driving infrastructure modernization across compute, storage, virtualization, Windows (preferred), cloud, and automation domains. This role requires a unique blend of hands-on engineering expertise and strategic architectural leadership, with responsibility for designing, building, and modernizing automation frameworks, infrastructure pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions.
The successful candidate must be equally comfortable developing code and automation while leading architectural discussions with senior management, enterprise architects, engineering teams, and other key stakeholders. Working closely with client leadership and technical teams, this individual will help define technology roadmaps, remediate legacy automation challenges, and deliver scalable, resilient, and outcome-driven infrastructure solutions.
What you'll do:
- Lead the modernization of Windows Server and hybrid infrastructure platforms through automation, standardization, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
- Analyze, remediate, and modernize legacy automation frameworks, scripts, and deployment pipelines, improving maintainability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Design, develop, and implement automation solutions using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform, Harness, and CI/CD tooling.
- Architect and automate Windows Server lifecycle management, including deployment, configuration management, patching, security hardening, and OS upgrades.
- Lead technical and architectural discussions with senior client stakeholders, engineers, and platform teams, translating business requirements into practical engineering solutions.
- Provide senior-level engineering support across Windows (focus), Linux, virtualization, cloud, and infrastructure platforms.
- Establish engineering standards, documentation, and operational best practices to reduce technical debt and improve platform reliability.
- Partner with client teams to define modernization roadmaps and deliver measurable business and operational outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Expert-level Windows Server engineering experience (Windows Server 2019 and 2025 preferred).
- Strong PowerShell development experience, including automation framework and pipeline creation.
- Proficiency in Python for infrastructure automation and operational tooling.
- Hands-on experience with Ansible, Terraform, Harness, and Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies.
- Experience designing, maintaining, and modernizing CI/CD and infrastructure deployment pipelines.
- Experience assessing and refactoring legacy automation codebases, improving documentation, and implementing engineering standards.
- Strong understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, SCCM/MECM, Windows CIS security baselines, and automated system hardening.
- Automation integration with VMware vSphere 8 and 9 for system deployment
- Experience leading architecture reviews, technical workshops, and executive-level discussions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and consulting skills.
- Linux administration and automation experience (nice to have but not the focus).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting and presenting technical solutions.
- Ability to work effectively in team-based environments with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects in dynamic environments.
- Ability to travel if required.
