The opportunity

As Head of Field Strategy, Operations & Excellence (Head of Sales), you will oversee REGENXBIO’s commercial field strategy and execution, drive revenue growth, and ensure alignment of the commercial field organization with the company’s overall business objectives. You’ll set the vision for the field organization, define field and sales processes, and lead the team to achieve ambitious growth targets. In this role you’ll help shape and translate brand strategy and the GTM plan into field execution through close partnership with marketing, market access, medical affairs, commercial enablement and training, and instill a high-performance, highly compliant, patient-centric culture suited to rare disease communities, where every interaction and every patient matters. As the leader of the field organization, you will lead and develop Market Development Directors, Patient Engagement teams, Key Account Managers, and other key field teams, while serving as a member of the Rare Disease Leadership Team.

What you'll be doing:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive national field strategy aligned with franchise priorities, launch plans, and commercial objectives.
  • Deliver national and regional sales performance, maximizing the success of the lead asset in DMD market. Set objectives that drive patient access, demand, revenue generation and growth in line with forecast.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing field organization, including regional sales leaders, Key Account Managers, market development roles, and patient engagement roles, focused on DMD providers, institutions, clinics, patients & caregivers. Includes:
  • Set clear responsibilities and performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and address performance gaps.
  • Develop individual growth plans, leadership bench strength, and succession plans while creating an inclusive culture that values diverse experience and perspectives.
  • Lead field launch readiness, including territory design, deployment, targeting, account prioritization, training, and execution planning. Establish readiness milestones and address gaps with cross-functional partners.
  • Drive sales force effectiveness through performance management, field KPIs, incentive compensation, analytics, and CRM utilization.
  • Partner with Commercial Operations, People, and Finance groups to establish effective incentive compensation plans, field KPIs, business reviews, and recognition programs.
  • Partner closely with Brand Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs, and other cross-functional teams to translate strategy into exceptional field execution, maintaining appropriate separation of commercial and medical responsibilities.
  • Lead and develop Patient Services capabilities, ensuring effective patient access, onboarding, support, education, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Work closely with Market Access to identify and help resolve barriers involving payer coverage, prior authorization, reimbursement, treatment-center readiness, and patient onboarding.
  • Build strong relationships with key opinion leaders, treating institutions, and professional communities.
  • Contribute to portfolio strategy, business planning, forecasting, and resource allocation as a member of the Rare Disease Leadership Team.
  • Analyze market dynamics, customer feedback, and field performance to optimize execution, inform strategy and optimize results.
  • Champion a culture of compliance, accountability, and patient-centricity across the organization.
  • Work closely with other executive and senior leadership teams to align field operations with marketing, finance, IT, operations & enablement, and other key business functions.
  • Ability to travel ~50-75% as required.
  • It is imperative that REGENXBIO employees embody our core values by working collaboratively, building strong relationships and using clear communication to meet shared objectives.
