Mid-level SysAdmin – (Remote APAC Canadian NightShift Coverage)

What this journey looks like

We are looking for a Mid-level Systems Administrator to join the infrastructure operations team of a leading Canadian fintech company.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience supporting Windows Server and Linux environments , with a strong focus on server maintenance, patching, incident troubleshooting, and operational support.

This is a reactive, hands-on infrastructure support role , involving the investigation and resolution of technical issues, execution of established procedures, and coordination with internal technical teams.

The position is fully remote and open to candidates based in APAC . The role will support Canadian overnight operations, with coverage focused on approximately 1 AM–8 AM Eastern Time , including scheduled maintenance and rotating on-call responsibilities.

What You'll Lead and Build

• Administer, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server and Linux environments .

• Provide reactive infrastructure support and L2/L3-level troubleshooting as part of the primary response team.

• Investigate and resolve production incidents, escalating complex issues to specialized teams when needed.

• Support and troubleshoot VDI integrations , including connectivity, authentication, and access-related issues.

• Perform scheduled server patching and maintenance activities.

• Support Windows patching using SCCM and Linux patching using Red Hat Satellite/Capsule .

• Execute existing Ansible playbooks following established operational procedures.

• Assist with SQL Server Always On operational activities and coordinate failovers with database specialists when required.

• Perform routine Linux troubleshooting, including CPU, memory, disk usage, SSH, sudo permissions, and authentication issues.

• Monitor infrastructure alerts, investigate potential incidents, and identify false positives.

• Support server builds, backups, snapshots, and planned after-hours changes.

• Participate in rotating on-call coverage , responding to alerts and incidents as required.

• Follow established procedures and maintain clear communication with internal teams during incidents and maintenance activities.

What You Bring to the Table

• Hands-on experience administering and supporting Windows Server and Linux environments .

• Experience working with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) , ideally versions 7, 8, or 9.

• Experience with server patching, system maintenance, and infrastructure troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with SCCM, Red Hat Satellite/Capsule, and Ansible playbook execution .

• Basic understanding of SQL Server Always On operational support or failover coordination.

• Experience supporting or troubleshooting VDI environments or integrations , such as Citrix, VMware Horizon, or Azure Virtual Desktop.

• Working knowledge of Active Directory , SSH, sudo permissions, and authentication troubleshooting.

• Strong L2/L3-level troubleshooting and incident response skills.

• Ability to follow established procedures, investigate technical issues, and escalate when necessary.

• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical teams.

• Advanced English communication skills .

• Availability to support Canadian overnight operations and rotating on-call coverage .
