ROLE OVERVIEW The client is seeking a highly analytical and technically minded Technical Business Analyst to act as the bridge between business stakeholders and software engineering teams. This role is responsible for translating business needs into detailed requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria that enable successful product delivery.

The ideal candidate has experience working within Agile environments, managing product backlogs, and collaborating closely with developers, product leaders, and business stakeholders. Role Scope This is a requirements and backlog-focused role, not a Project Manager role. The primary focus of this position is requirements analysis, user story development, backlog management, and product delivery support.

Candidates whose experience is primarily focused on project schedules, budgets, resource planning, and status reporting should not be considered. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Requirements Gathering & Analysis ● Partner with stakeholders to understand business objectives, challenges, and opportunities. ● Elicit, analyze, document, and prioritize business and functional requirements. ● Convert ambiguous requests into clear, actionable requirements. ● Facilitate discussions to identify business needs, dependencies, and success criteria. ● Trace a request back through the systems and see what it touches before writing requirements, including legacy platforms still in service.

User Story & Backlog Management ● Write detailed user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria for engineering teams. ● Manage and maintain product backlogs, ensuring priorities align with business goals. ● Lead backlog refinement sessions and support sprint planning activities. ● Break down large initiatives into manageable and deliverable work items. ● Ensure stories are sufficiently defined before entering development.

Technical Collaboration ● Work closely with software engineers, architects, and QA teams throughout the development lifecycle. ● Participate in technical discussions involving APIs, integrations, data models, and cloud-hosted platforms. ● Validate technical solutions against business requirements. ● Support testing efforts and help define acceptance criteria for releases. ● Validate reported numbers against source data; confirm that what a report shows matches what the system actually recorded. ● Define expected system behavior for incomplete, unmatched, or failed records not only the happy path. ● Work across multiple existing platforms, establishing what current systems do today and keep in sync new documentation about them.

Stakeholder Management ● Serve as a trusted advisor between business and technical teams. ● Challenge assumptions and uncover root causes through effective questioning. ● Communicate project requirements and priorities clearly to cross-functional teams. ● Provide updates and clarification throughout the development process.

Process Improvement ● Identify opportunities to improve intake processes, workflows, and requirements management practices. ● Contribute to Agile best practices and continuous improvement initiatives. ● Support documentation standards and knowledge-sharing efforts. ● Keep requirements, decisions, and system behavior captured in a durable, shared form as work proceeds.

Required Qualifications ● Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. ● 3–6 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, Product Analyst, or Product Owner. ● Working SQL proficiency:able to query a relational database independently to validate data, reconcile reports, and investigate discrepancies (joins, aggregates, filtering). ● Proven experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria for software development teams. ● Experience managing and prioritizing Agile/Scrum backlogs. ● Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and software development lifecycles. ● Ability to facilitate requirement-gathering workshops and stakeholder discussions. ● Experience collaborating directly with engineers and technical teams. ● Strong written and verbal communication skills. ● Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements. ● Must be able to work in US time zones with a minimum of four hours of daily overlap with US Pacific business hours.

Technical Skills ● Agile / Scrum ● User Story Creation ● Acceptance Criteria Development ● Backlog Management ● Requirements Gathering ● Workflow Design ● API Integrations ● Data Modeling ● SQL ● GitHub Projects ● Cloud & Event-Driven Concepts Success Profile The successful candidate: ● Thinks critically and asks the right questions. ● Can confidently push back on unclear requirements. ● Is comfortable working with both business and technical stakeholders. ● Excels at turning complex concepts into clear documentation. ● Focuses on delivering well-defined requirements that drive successful product outcomes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS ● Experience using GitHub Issues and GitHub Projects. ● Familiarity with AWS environments and services, including Amazon RDS, AWS Lambda, and Amazon S3. ● Understanding of APIs, integrations, and cloud platforms. ● Experience designing intake processes and request workflows, particularly in Slack. ● Exposure to SaaS, platform, or software product organizations. ● Professional certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, CSPO, or PSPO are a plus.
