Senior Mobile Engineer

Gorilla Logic is looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer who will work with a team of developers and engineers rebuilding and modernizing native Android and iOS applications. This role will be responsible for delivering complete mobile features, including user experience, offline-first data management, API integrations, device capabilities, automated testing, and production-ready releases.

Our environment will require you to work effectively across Android, iOS, JavaScript, and backend integration boundaries while maintaining consistent behavior across platforms. The team also works extensively with AI-assisted development and coding agents. Your success will be measured by how well you combine strong mobile engineering fundamentals with critical thinking, adaptability, careful validation, and the ability to build effective environments and workflows for AI agents.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain native Android and iOS features with consistent behavior, user experience, and design.
  • Lead development for the Android rebuild using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
  • Contribute to iOS modernization using Swift, UIKit, SwiftUI, and RxSwift.
  • Implement offline-first capabilities, including encrypted storage, mutation queues, background synchronization, retries, attachment uploads, and conflict handling.
  • Integrate mobile applications with APIs for authentication, records, forms, workflows, files, and attachments.
  • Work with shared JavaScript business logic and debug issues across the native and JavaScript boundary.
  • Integrate device capabilities such as camera, barcode scanning, location, audio, biometrics, and document pickers.
  • Build accessible phone and tablet experiences using an established design system.
  • Write unit, screenshot, integration, and end-to-end automated tests.
  • Support CI, automated device testing, and mobile release pipelines.
  • Use AI coding agents for investigation, planning, implementation, testing, and code review.
  • Build and improve agent harnesses, including repository instructions, tools, execution environments, permissions, and validation workflows.
  • Review AI-generated changes through code review, automated tests, emulator checks, and functional-parity validation.

Technical Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience with a focus on mobile applications.
  • Strong Android development experience using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Material 3, coroutines, and Flow.
  • Experience with Hilt, Retrofit, OkHttp, Room, SQLCipher, DataStore, and WorkManager.
  • Experience with multi-module Gradle projects and unidirectional data-flow patterns such as MVI.
  • Professional iOS development experience using Swift, UIKit, and SwiftUI.
  • Ability to work within an existing RxSwift-based application.
  • Experience with Realm, Keychain, or comparable secure-storage technologies.
  • Strong experience designing offline-first mobile applications.
  • Experience integrating REST APIs and native device capabilities.
  • Ability to read and debug JavaScript used as shared mobile business logic.
  • Experience writing automated mobile tests.
  • Experience with GitLab CI or comparable CI/CD tools.
  • Experience with Firebase Test Lab, BrowserStack, or similar device-testing platforms.
  • Professional experience using AI coding agents and validating their output.
  • Understanding of agent harness engineering, including context preparation, instructions, tooling, safeguards, and feedback loops.
  • Strong communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with fastlane and TestFlight.
  • Experience with white-label applications and mobile release engineering.
  • Experience with no-code, low-code, or field-service platforms.
  • Experience maintaining mobile design systems.
  • Experience building custom tools or workflows for AI coding agents.
