About YLD:
Our goal is to help our clients keep moving forward. We work with them to build the skills and capabilities they need to stay ahead of the competition, and we know our success only happens when they succeed. We’re a team of curious, talented people, and we’re committed to making YLD a place where great people want to work, grow, and stay.
We’re a remote-first consultancy specialising in software engineering, product design, and data. Our teams are based across London, Lisbon, and Porto, and we create digital solutions that continue to deliver value long after our work is done.
About the role:
As a Product Owner at YLD, you’ll be part of a client team building innovative products. We’re looking for someone curious, passionate, driven, and enthusiastic. You should be skilled in problem-solving and experienced in turning a product vision into a roadmap and a backlog a team can deliver against. You’re also an effective communicator and a strong team player. Together with your team, you’ll thrive in a fast-paced delivery environment, delivering outstanding results and exciting projects.
Your day-to-day responsibilities:
Product vision and management
- Collaborate with the client on product vision, set your team goals and guide the team to ensure they meet the goals of the client’s wider objectives;
- Develop a deep understanding of customer personas, jobs-to-be-done and product behaviours;
- Lead a cross-functional team and identify customer needs to help the team deliver innovative solutions to satisfy those needs;
- Develop and prioritise a roadmap with the team and internal and external partners, along with a coherent product backlog that supports it.
Backlog management
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define and prioritise product features based on business goals, stakeholder expectations and market needs;
- Manage the backlog to ensure that it is up-to-date, relevant, and actionable for development teams;
- Work alongside the client on discovery for new features;
- Optimise the best technical solutions to avoid over- and under-engineering problems, making sure that the development effort focuses on the right areas, in collaboration with the tech lead;
- Track and monitor features’ performance and functionality after launch to ensure continuous improvement and iterations.
Preferred qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, taking digital products from discovery through to launch;
- Experience leading a cross-functional delivery team in an agile environment (Scrum, Kanban or similar);
- Confident writing and refining user stories and acceptance criteria, and running backlog refinement with a development team;
- Comfortable using prioritisation frameworks to make trade-offs and their rationale clear to stakeholders;
- Experience using analytics, experimentation and user research to inform product decisions;
- Experience working with senior stakeholders in a client-facing or consultancy setting;
You should apply if you are:
- Self-motivated, proactive and always looking for ways to improve and develop yourself;
- A good communicator, both in writing and verbally. You’ll be able to explain technical ideas and concepts in business-friendly language;
- Detail oriented;
- Possess strong problem-solving skills that balance innovation with pragmatic technology choices to solve business needs;
- Used to working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;
- Analytical and problem-solving-oriented;
- A genuine believer in diversity and fairness.
What you’ll get in return:
- The chance to work with a forward-thinking, ethical, and fun group of people and to develop and grow your skills in a fast-moving business
Our typical recruitment process:
- 1st Interview with a Talent Partner (30/45 mins)
- Technical Interview with our Head of Design (1h30)
- Final meet & greet with the project's Client Partner (1h30)
