The full posting

Our applications are architected using Ruby on Rails (Turbo/Hotwire/Stimulus/Minitest), Postgres, Redis and are deployed on Google Cloud. Your work will be varied and range from small UI bugfixes through to complex feature/application development. You will interact with the founders daily and will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. In this role, you will work across our entire stack to build and refine: Affiliate tracking, conversion attribution, and flexible commissioning systems that power offers, referrals, and partner earnings. Dynamic reporting dashboards, performance charts, and data tables that give partners actionable insights. Mission-critical financial systems including subscription billing, invoicing, payment reconciliation, and automated payouts, where precision and data integrity are vital. Reliable integrations, webhooks, and background data pipelines connecting Kutoku with ecommerce, payment, and partner platforms. External REST APIs and clear developer documentation. Product and partner directories with comprehensive search and filtering. Partner signup, onboarding, account security, and role-based access flows. Our custom Shopify application, affiliate-link tooling, and browser extensions. Content ingestion and brand-mention monitoring across publisher websites and channels. Internal administrative tools, operational reports, and custom applications. Root-cause analysis, triage, and resolution of production errors and data-integrity issues.

As a small, growing marketing technology startup, our codebase has many facets, ranging from performance-optimized code to API integrations, web crawling and UI development. No two days will be the same, and you will be required to wear many hats. The ideal candidate will: Be a senior, product-minded Rails generalist — you understand that the why of what we build supersedes the how. You care about user experience, business impact, and pragmatic engineering. Possess the maturity and independence needed to personally own and ship production-ready features. Your thoroughly self-tested code will account for edge cases, fit smoothly into our existing application UI/UX, and rarely require senior refactoring / oversight before release. Align with the "Rails is omakase" philosophy. You bring a strong command of Ruby / Rails, web architecture, and convention over configuration, preferring to leverage built-in framework patterns and existing UI systems to deliver high-value features quickly and efficiently. Demonstrate strong codebase stewardship by instinctively recognizing technical debt, simplifying complex code, and refactoring existing patterns as part of your day-to-day workflow. Showcase skill in steering agentic coding tools to navigate codebases and execute tasks, focusing your expertise on architecture, context curation, and rigorous code review. You actively refine agent directive files and custom workflows to maximize output quality. Communicate clearly and effectively in fluent, near-native English, with proven experience collaborating asynchronously across cross-functional teams in a North American startup environment. Relish the wide variety of technical and product challenges facing our small team, bringing the broad skillset, curiosity, and adaptability we value to craft creative solutions.
