The full posting

AI Software Engineer We’re looking for a skilled and adaptable Full-stack Software Engineer who takes an AI-first approach to software development, using tools such as Claude Code and Codex to accelerate delivery while maintaining high engineering standards. You’ll join Treatwell’s AI Engineering team and work closely with our Chief AI Officer.

Your focus will be on building internal tools and automating workflows, alongside customer-facing products and features. You’ll work directly with the people using these tools to understand their needs, build working prototypes quickly and improve them through feedback. We are seeking a software engineer who is comfortable with working in a cross-functional Agile team, with proven experience in designing/building frontend and backend applications, continuously delivering clean, maintainable and well tested code.

We want to do great work and to be known for it. You’ll use AI throughout the development process: breaking down problems, guiding coding agents, iterating on implementations and reviewing and testing the results. We value hands-on experimentation, short feedback loops and the judgment to know when to change direction or turn a promising prototype into reliable software.

You’ll also build integrations with our products and third-party platforms, adding LLMs and other AI capabilities where they solve a real user need. We don’t just ship features, we’re building a Europe-wide platform & team, and know we need to do great work to succeed. To achieve this, we need passionate people who love being challenged, learning new things, and growing with their team.

You will be responsible for: Design, prototype, develop and maintain full-stack applications, primarily using TypeScript, Node.js and React. Choose the tools and languages that best fit the problem, and adapt quickly as requirements evolve. Work closely with the Chief AI Officer, internal users, product managers, designers and engineers to identify practical problems, test ideas and deliver useful tools in short iterations.

Use AI coding tools and agent workflows extensively to accelerate implementation, debugging and testing, while taking ownership of code quality, correctness and maintainability. Integrate and maintain robust connections with third-party APIs and services. Participate in code reviews, architectural decisions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Move successful prototypes into dependable everyday use, with appropriate testing, performance, security and error handling. You know good UX, visual and good technical design when you see it and how to ensure quality is embedded in the software development process.

About you

At least 2 years of proven experience as a Software Engineer. Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and agents as a core part of your development workflow, including defining tasks, providing context, coordinating local or cloud-based coding workflows, and reviewing and validating generated code.

Practical familiarity with integrating LLM APIs and AI services into applications, and the ability to learn orchestration and evaluation tools as needed. We value sound engineering judgment over expertise in a particular AI framework. Strong experience in back-end development with Node.js or a similar JavaScript runtime.

Experience building frontend applications with React or a comparable framework, and the flexibility to work across backend languages and tools when the problem calls for it. Solid understanding of RESTful API design, OAuth, and integrating third-party APIs. Strong problem-solving and communication skills, comfort with ambiguous requirements, and a practical approach to experimentation: build a small working version, get feedback and iterate.

Nice to haves

Experience with TDD/BDD and writing test suites (e.g., using Jest, Cypress). Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps best practices. CI/CD pipeline experience (we use Gitlab CI/CD).
