Job Description
Project – the aim you’ll have Our team works with a leading UK-based insurance company to build and evolve a proprietary data platform that helps identify vulnerabilities and proactively reduce cyber risk. The platform ingests and processes large volumes of vulnerability intelligence data from multiple sources.

It powers scalable backend services, high-performance APIs and event-driven data processing, helping businesses identify and manage cybersecurity risks that may impact them and their customers. This is not a typical CRUD application. You’ll be working with large-scale data processing, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure and real-world cybersecurity challenges - with Python at the heart of the platform.

Role – how you’ll contribute As a Senior Python Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing scalable backend solutions for a data-intensive platform. You'll collaborate closely with experienced engineers to build reliable services, shape technical solutions, and contribute to the evolution of the platform and engineering practices.

In this role, you will: Design, develop and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Python. Build scalable solutions for ingesting, processing and transforming large datasets. Work with Microsoft Azure, including containerized workloads, batch processing, PostgreSQL and event-driven architectures.

Contribute to cloud-native architecture, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code. Work with Databricks and modern data processing approaches. Collaborate with engineers on system design, data modelling and platform improvements.

Improve software quality through code reviews, automated testing and mentoring less experienced developers. Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, accelerate problem solving and support activities such as coding, testing and technical analysis.

Qualifications

Expectations – the experience you need 5+ years of commercial experience with Python development, with a strong focus on backend engineering. Strong experience building backend applications and REST APIs. Solid knowledge of SQL and experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.

Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines. Experience building data-intensive applications, data pipelines or solutions processing large datasets. Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, testing and clean code principles.

Additional skills – the edge you have Experience with Databricks or other modern data platforms. Familiarity with event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing and distributed systems. Hands-on experience with Azure services such as Azure Container Apps or Batch Processing.
