Company Description

We at Sigma Software are looking for an International Accountant (Middle / Middle+) to strengthen our international accounting team. This is a full-time role with flexible setup (remote or hybrid, depending on your location) in a dynamic, international environment.

You will work closely with entities across different countries, local accounting and tax advisors, and internal stakeholders from Finance, Operations, Legal, and other teams. We as a company value clear communication, ownership, and a modern approach to finance, including the use of AI tools and automation. Joining us, you will have the opportunity to influence accounting processes, grow your expertise, and gradually take end-to-end ownership of entities while becoming a trusted partner for the business.

Job Description

  • Maintain accounting records for assigned entities and ensure accurate recognition of transactions
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and reconciliations and support month-end and year-end closing
  • Support intercompany transactions and reconciliations
  • Coordinate with local accounting and tax advisors in different jurisdictions
  • Prepare information for VAT, corporate tax, and statutory reporting and review calculations prepared by external advisors
  • Support statutory audits and maintain proper accounting documentation
  • Communicate directly with internal stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Legal, and other teams
  • Understand stakeholder needs, explain accounting matters clearly, and provide practical, business-oriented solutions
  • Take ownership of assigned areas, identify issues, and drive them through to resolution
  • Contribute to improvements in accounting processes, controls, and automation, including identifying opportunities to use AI and other tools where they bring practical value

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of practical experience in Accounting, preferably in an international or multi-entity environment
  • Solid practical knowledge of accounting principles and the full accounting cycle
  • Experience with month-end closing, reconciliations, and management reporting
  • Practical understanding of VAT and basic corporate tax concepts
  • Ability to critically review work prepared by external accountants and tax advisors
  • Strong practical experience with 1C
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with Xero, QuickBooks, or similar accounting systems
  • Comfort using AI tools in day-to-day work and openness to adopting new AI-based solutions
  • English level Upper-Intermediate or higher, sufficient for independent professional communication

WILL BE A PLUS:

  • Experience with EU, UK, and US entities
  • Experience working in an international group of companies
  • Experience supporting statutory audits for multiple jurisdictions
  • Background in process improvement, automation, or implementation of new accounting tools

Additional Information

PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Clear communicator, able to explain complex accounting topics in a simple and structured way
  • Client-oriented mindset, understanding that Accounting provides a service to the business
  • Strong sense of ownership and proactivity, taking responsibility and driving issues to resolution
  • Good judgment, knowing what to communicate, when to escalate, and how to prioritize
  • Critical thinker, focused on understanding the logic behind the numbers rather than mechanically processing information
  • Learning agility, able to quickly understand new entities, jurisdictions, and processes and willing to explore new technologies, including AI
  • Team player, comfortable collaborating with colleagues and external advisors across different locations
