Technical Intern

Description Job Description Leidos is seeking a summer intern with a Computer Science background to join our team in support of the SMIT contract, the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT), Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, the Leidos team will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network. The successful candidate will support Azure DevOps projects for the NMCI network. Primary Responsibilities Implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes, ensuring efficient and reliable software delivery. Implementing and enforcing security measures within the development and deployment processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Ensuring consistency and stability in infrastructure and application configurations across different environments using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. Participate in the planning of upgrades, replacement, configuration, and maintenance of servers/databases/tools Collaborate with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines Comply with ITSM processes and procedures Comply with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) governance and use MBSE tools Comply with Cybersecurity requirements within the DoDI 8500.01 and DON 5239 Support the development and maintenance of processes, checklists, and procedures Basic Qualifications Enrolled in a degree program as a Computer Science (or similar) major with graduation planned in late 2025 -2027 GPA 3.0 or better Experience with coding/programming Ability to obtain a security clearance US citizenship required Ability to obtain Security+ (or other relevant) certification to meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements Preferred Qualifications Strong familiarity and experience with DevOps tools, especially those within the Azure DevOps ecosystem, such as Azure Pipelines, Azure Repos, Azure Boards, and Azure Artifacts. Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment using tools like Azure Pipelines or Jenkins. Understanding of security best practices in cloud environments, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance standards. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) and programming languages (e.g., Python, Ruby) for automation and customization tasks.
