Crop Adjuster Intern (Minnesota/South Dakota/North Dakota)

As America’s Crop Insurance Company™, we’re headquartered in the U.S. and have been owned by the farmers we insure for over 125 years.</span></p></div><p>Farmers Mutual Hail is currently looking for a qualified undergraduate to intern in <strong>Minnesota, South Dakota, or North Dakota</strong>&nbsp;as part of our 2027 Summer Internship Program. This is a paid internship starting Monday, May 17 through Friday, August 6, working up to 40 hours per week for the summer, with the potential to turn into a full-time, permanent position in the future.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><u>REQUIREMENTS:</u></strong></p> <p><strong>Education: </strong>Must be a currently-enrolled sophomore, junior, or senior at a college or university majoring in Agriculture <strong>(May 2027 graduates will not be eligible)</strong>.</p> <p><strong>Skills: </strong>Strong organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills are necessary. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Basic knowledge of agriculture, farming practices, or crop production preferred.</p> <p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong><u>RESPONSIBILITIES:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Develops customer relationships and interpersonal skills by working and observing interaction between Territory Sales Managers and Agents, customers, and peers.</li> <li>Develops a clear understanding of the differences between Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) and Private Products within the crop insurance industry.</li> <li>Observes and assists with Multi-Peril and Private Product claims and adjusting process.</li> <li>Gains essential background knowledge on how the organization is run and its purpose in the industry.</li> <li>Gains an understanding of agricultural practices and learns about crops in various regions assigned throughout the country.</li> <li>Learns how to explain various loss procedures for the major crops insured.</li> <li>Become familiar with Precision Technology as it applies to individual agricultural producers.</li> <li>Job shadows at the Home Office in West Des Moines, IA to gain a broad understanding of the business cycle and to observe and be a part of the culture at FMH.</li> <li>Obtains experience with project presentation skills to help intern deliver a successful Capstone presentation to finish out the internship.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><u>QUALIFICATIONS:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Must reside in the state of Minnesota, South Dakota, or North Dakota for the duration of the internship.</li> <li>Must be able to physically climb heights in excess of ten (10) feet; walk distances in excess of one-quarter (1/4) mile over un-even terrain; bend, squat, twist and reach; including lifting objects up to 50 pounds; and stand without rest for periods of time greater than one hour.</li> <li>Must have valid driver’s license, car insurance, and a reliable vehicle to travel.</li> <li>75% travel and possible overnight stay may be expected (expenses covered by FMH).</li> </ul><div class="content-conclusion"><p><span style="text-decoration: underline; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization by Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company, SI.
