Position Summary

The Trainer, Patient Financial Access (PFA) Workflow & Informatics is responsible for developing and delivering workflow-based training that prepares patient access and revenue cycle staff to effectively perform their roles. This position translates operational workflows, system functionality, policies, and procedures into practical, role-based learning experiences.

The Trainer will partner with patient access leadership, revenue cycle teams, informatics, operational stakeholders, Epic application teams, and subject matter experts to ensure training accurately reflects approved workflows and system design. The ideal candidate is an engaging classroom instructor with strong knowledge of patient access processes, including scheduling, referrals, registration, insurance verification, estimates, prior authorization, financial clearance, and financial counseling. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver instructor-led, virtual, classroom, and hands-on training for patient access and front-end revenue cycle teams.
  • Provide workflow-based training for scheduling, referral intake, new patient coordination, registration, insurance verification, estimates, prior authorization, financial clearance, and financial counseling.
  • Translate operational workflows and system functionality into realistic training scenarios, exercises, demonstrations, and simulations.
  • Develop, update, and maintain training materials, including lesson plans, presentations, job aids, tip sheets, quick reference guides, and competency assessments.
  • Partner with operational leaders, informatics teams, Epic application teams, and subject matter experts to validate the accuracy of training content.
  • Ensure training materials align with approved future-state workflows, system configuration, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in workflow validation sessions, integrated testing, operational readiness activities, and training preparation.
  • Identify workflow or training gaps and communicate concerns, risks, and recommendations to project leadership.
  • Support training environment preparation, user access validation, classroom setup, and course logistics.
  • Track course attendance, completion, competency, and readiness through the organization’s learning management system.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, observation, participant feedback, and operational readiness results.
  • Reinforce standardized workflows and promote consistent adoption across patient access and revenue cycle teams.
  • Provide at-the-elbow assistance, command center support, and workflow reinforcement during go-live.
  • Support post-go-live stabilization by addressing knowledge gaps, updating training materials, and providing refresher education.
  • Collaborate effectively across operational, technical, education, and project teams throughout implementation and activation.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering healthcare, patient access, revenue cycle, or EHR training in a classroom or virtual environment.
  • Strong understanding of patient access and front-end revenue cycle workflows.
  • Experience training staff on scheduling, referrals, registration, insurance verification, prior authorization, financial clearance, estimates, or financial counseling processes.
  • Experience creating and maintaining training curriculum, job aids, tip sheets, simulations, and workflow-based learning materials.
  • Ability to translate complex workflows and system functionality into clear, practical instruction.
  • Strong classroom facilitation, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience collaborating with operational leaders, informatics teams, application analysts, project teams, and subject matter experts.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple courses, deliverables, and priorities.
  • Ability to identify workflow inconsistencies, training gaps, and readiness risks.
  • Experience supporting healthcare implementations, activations, or go-live events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Epic patient access applications or workflows, including Cadence, Prelude, referral management, or authorization functionality.
  • Epic Credentialed Trainer, Principal Trainer, application certification, or equivalent training experience.
  • Experience supporting oncology scheduling, referrals, registration, authorization, or financial clearance workflows.
  • Experience using a learning management system to manage enrollment, attendance, assessments, and completion reporting.
  • Experience providing go-live and post-go-live stabilization support.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional delivery methods, and competency-based education.
