Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Epic Training Manager to lead the planning, development, and delivery of a comprehensive Epic training program. This high-visibility role requires a hands-on leader who can quickly assess training needs, build an effective strategy, and guide training teams through implementation, go-live readiness, and post-live support.
The Epic Training Manager will partner closely with clinical, operational, IT, and executive stakeholders to promote end-user readiness, system adoption, and long-term training success. The ideal candidate has strong Epic training leadership experience and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, development, and execution of Epic end-user training programs
- Develop and manage the overall Epic training strategy, including curriculum design, scheduling, delivery, and readiness activities
- Manage, mentor, and support Epic trainers, instructional designers, and training support staff
- Partner with clinical, operational, IT, and executive leadership to align training initiatives with organizational goals
- Oversee classroom, virtual, and blended learning delivery methods
- Coordinate training environments, materials, logistics, and user access requirements
- Ensure end-user training readiness for implementation, go-live, and post-live optimization
- Monitor training participation, completion rates, competency, and readiness metrics
- Prepare and present training progress reports, risks, and recommendations to leadership
- Identify training and adoption risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with application, workflow, testing, and change management teams to ensure training content accurately reflects system functionality and operational workflows
- Support communication and change adoption efforts related to new Epic workflows and processes
- Serve as a visible and trusted training leader throughout the engagement
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Epic Training Manager, Training Lead, or similar leadership role
- Experience leading Epic training programs for large-scale implementations, upgrades, optimizations, or enterprise initiatives
- Strong understanding of Epic workflows, training methodologies, and adult learning principles
- Demonstrated experience managing trainers, instructional designers, and training support teams
- Experience developing and executing training plans, curricula, schedules, and readiness assessments
- Strong knowledge of go-live preparation and post-live training support
- Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical, operational, technical, and executive stakeholders
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Ability to quickly assess needs and drive execution with minimal ramp-up
- Willingness and ability to work onsite as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Epic credential, certification, or accreditation
- Epic Principal Trainer or Credentialed Trainer experience
- Experience supporting high-visibility or executive-sponsored healthcare initiatives
- Experience working with diverse clinical, operational, and technical departments
- Knowledge of change management, instructional design, and training evaluation best practices
- Previous experience supporting Epic go-live command center or at-the-elbow activities
