As a Staff Software Developer, you are a senior individual contributor who combines strong hands-on skills with the ability to influence across teams, reduce ambiguity, and scale solutions beyond a single codebase. You shape architecture and standards, act as a technical leader through design reviews and RFCs, and mentor senior and junior engineers alike.
What you will do
: Define and evolve technical architecture and engineering standards that enable safe, scalable, secure, and reusable capabilities across teams. Influence architectural decisions through design reviews, RFCs, proof-of-concepts, and hands-on collaboration. Own key platform features and architectural improvements end-to-end, from design through delivery.
Partner with QA, Product, Security, Domain SMEs, and DevOps to strengthen observability, reliability, quality, CI/CD, deployment strategies, and production safeguards. Drive operational excellence by identifying systemic risks, leading root cause analysis, and implementing preventative improvements.
Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and practical technical guidance. Solve complex, business-critical challenges, including third-party extensibility and real-time multi-user synchronization. Champion responsible AI-assisted development by defining guardrails, piloting tools and agentic workflows, mentoring teams, and measuring impact on velocity and quality.
What you wll bring:: 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 8 years with core Java and demonstrated impact beyond a single team. Deep expertise in server-side Java, with the ability to serve as a subject matter expert. Proven experience designing and evolving shared platforms or infrastructure used by multiple teams.
Experience delivering cloud-native systems on AWS, with a strong understanding of scalability, reliability, security, and cost management. Experience working with monolithic applications and microservices. Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
Strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to balance delivery speed with long-term platform health. Proven ownership of significant architectural decisions and strong communication and influence skills across technical teams. Experience working in an agile team alongside developers, testers, and a product owner.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with cloud providers beyond AWS, including Azure or Google Cloud. Contributions to open-source projects or a strong GitHub portfolio.
