Job Description
The graphic designer is responsible for the creation and formatting of scientific PowerPoint presentations, the creation and layout of scientific posters (InDesign), and the creation and formatting of complex figures and graphics that support business objectives. This position resides within Global Scientific Publications and requires close partnership with the medical writing team to ensure medical accuracy and to align with the objectives of the projects. Works collaboratively within a team environment. Contributes to and manages project scope and timelines and is accountable for deliverables assigned.
Responsibilities
PowerPoint:
- Create and format complex scientific slides in accordance with brand and style guidelines.
- Create icons, graphics, data tables/figures, and custom builds to support scientific presentations.
- Develop infographics and graphical abstracts for publications.
- Create data tables and figures.
- Design, create, and maintain templates.
Adobe Create Suite:
- Create, layout, and format scientific posters in accordance with brand and style guidelines.
- Create complex/custom scientific icons and graphics.
- Design, create, and maintain templates.
Provide timely and accurate development of assets. Meet established deadlines or provide reasonable notice to the project owner of delays or special circumstances requiring deadline extension. Prioritize and establish a well-balanced project workload to ensure self and team effectiveness. Triage email and work requests appropriately, prioritizing urgent items that may impact the team and/or project.
Must be self-motivated, highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask with delivering high-quality work. Possess strong teamwork attributes and cultural sensitivity. Attend all department meetings, ensuring communication and consistency in deliverables, staying current on process/procedures, and contributing insights to the greater team. Anticipates project needs and proactively provides expertise and offers solutions to meet them.
Qualifications
BA degree in design or communications preferred with minimum 3-5 years of related graphic design experience; previous pharmaceutical or healthcare experience strongly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Should have good working knowledge of editorial design, information graphics and data visualization, and typography. Must have design thinking skills as well as a good sense of appropriate design for scientific/medical audiences. Must ensure that design enhances and helps clearly communicate scientific messages.
3+ years of experience in a creative, team oriented and deadline driven environment with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. A high degree of initiative with a collaborative, solutions oriented and innovative approach to every assignment. Adaptable and reliable, able to process and respond to feedback quickly and effectively.

- Ability to communicate effectively both written, presentation, and orally in a professional manner.

- Must have a good grasp of project time requirements to be able to meet deadlines.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
